1976 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Coupe
Ransom Eli Olds (June 3, 1864 August 26, 1950) was a pioneer of the American automotive industry, after whom the Oldsmobile and REO brands were named. He claimed to have built his first steam car as early as 1887 and his first gasoline-powered car in 1896. The first stationery assembly line and its basic concept is credited to Olds, who used it to build the first mass-produced automobile, the Oldsmobile Curved Dash, beginning in 1901.
For consignment a very clean Olds Delta 88 all the way back from 1976. A two door Holiday Hardtop, this car measures in at a whopping 227" long. Typical square and rectangle design for 1976, this car is the definition of that platform. A consigner stated 81,251 miles which translates to a mere 2,400+ miles a year.
Exterior
This lengthy steel slab sided car with good gaps, straight sides and red paint in good condition. Chrome and brite work are fair with some pitting, staining, and loss of luster. A Royale version, this car has a spacious back seat, and a roofline matching window is seen between the B and C pillars. The spacious trunk is in good condition, and has the original felt liner that shows some staining. Standard Oldsmobile hub caps are seen all around.
Interior
A red velour with button tufting in a split bench in front, and bench in the rear stretches from door to door. Doors panels are a mixture of carpet, molded plastic, faux woodgrain, and the matching velour of the seats. Power window toggles are seen within these panels. Looking to the square/rectangle design dash, one sees a mixture of the faux woodgrain, black and red molded plastic, and a padded vinyl top. All of these surfaces are very clean and wear free.
Drivetrain
A 350ci (5.7 Liter) V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor will get this mass down the road quickly, and coupled with the automatic transmission, gas mileage will keep money in your pocket.
Clean, straight and low mileage, a 1970's classic with plenty of comfort, and space for passengers and all their belongings (like the lounge chair, couch, console TV...Tongue in cheek) in the large trunk. A few faults on the chrome and cadging, but otherwise in good condition.
