If you have been looking for a beautiful classic convertible that you can instantly become a fan favorite at the local car shows in your area then thisrare convertiblemay have your name on it! These 1970's muscle cars have incredible investment potential, and have been referred to as rolling bank accounts. The year 1970 was the pinnacle of the muscle car era and in most models the very most sought after year. Remember, When the top goes down the price goes up!

This convertible was stripped to bare metal and the body was painted in code 25 Astro Blue. I believe that color code was only available in 1970. When I made the purchase this body had its original paint. It was dull and faded needing a long overdue restoration after almost a half a century in existence. This car was rustproofed from the factory with Zeibart, so that's why I believe the body stayed in such good condition for being close to 50 years old. I had my local body shop remove both bumpers and the chrome before the original paint was stripped to bare metal. After the body was prepped and primed the black base coat was applied to the scoops of the ram-air hood as well as along both sides of the car for the W-30 stripes. The fineline tape was then applied for all of the W-30 stripes. After the body was paintedwith a full gallon of Astro Blue the fineline tape was removed, and four coats of Dupont clear coat were applied to bury the stripes under the clear coat to bring out the mirror finish as evident from the pictures.
The dual snorkel W-25 ram-air hood has the steel frame with brand new chrome twist downs. There is nothing like driving down the road looking at those twin scoops. I personally believe this hood is the best looking hood of all the hoods on any of the old muscle cars. A brand new front bumper and a brand new rear cut-out bumper were both installed with brand new 1970 442 grilles. The body received brand new 442 emblems, and brand new W-30 emblems to make this classic look like a real W-30. The dual exhaust system has a brand new pair of chrome trumpet exhaust tips running out the rear of the new cut-out rear bumper. Whenever this droptop is fired up it sounds wicked to say the least.
The Black convertible top is brand spanking new with brand new padding, and the full brand new set of rubber convertible top seal gaskets. This convertible top does have the brand new back glass window option as well. All of the convertible top components are present, but my top guy didn't know how to get the power working to the top, so the top currently has to be manually placed in the down position. The new owner will have to locate a shop that knows how to hook up the power.
The original bucket seats were showing wear as well as the back seat. I had the front bucket seats and the rear seats professionally reupholstered. They should stay in great shape and be nice and comfortable for many years to come. The entire interior still shows in very nice condition as seen in the pictures. This car came from the factory with TILT WHEEL AND POWER WINDOWS. Who doesn't love to have those rare options in an old muscle car? Each of the power windows works from their own switch and from the master switch on the drivers door. There is an aftermarket cruise control set-up on the turn signal lever that was period correct for back in the day, but I saw no signs of any of the cruise control system under the hood to engage the cruise control. The original dash pad is in very nice shape. I saw no cracking anywhere. Even the original chrome dash surround piece is still in place. Fortunately this dash was never cut up like was typicallydone tothese cars back in the day. The original AM radio is still present, but not hooked up, so the sound system will be left up to the winning bidder. The correct woodgrain insert for the year 1970 only on top of the console is brand new. All the other woodgrain around the interior was in good condition, so those are original. The door sills are brand new, so when you open the doors it looks sweet as you step into the car. A complete set of brand new window gaskets were installed by a professional interior shop. I tried to have everything on this body either replaced or restored.
This Convertible has some rare options for a 1970 that include power steering, power disc brakes, power convertible top, power windows, tilt wheel, dual clam shell one year only sport mirrors with the drivers side being remote controlled, Super Stock II sport wheels painted to match the body color, 442 sport steering wheel with working horn, and tinted glass. The wipers are brand new and work on both speeds and a brand new washer fluid container was installed. The factory buzzer still buzzes when the key is left in the ignition. The factory clock was working, but it stops and goes as it likes. All thehead lights and bright lights were upgraded to Halogen and work as they should. All four tail lights, all four brake lights, all four turn signals, all four cornering lights, emergency flashers, andeven the license plate light all work as they should. All the seat belts are present for a family of five, so a trip to the beach or a drive-in movie theater can be enjoyed by the entire family.
After the engine was detailed I tried to have all of the original factory decals placed in the proper spots in the engine compartment, inside the drivers door, and under the trunk lid, so this Astro Blue beauty would appear as close to the way it did when it rolled out of the factory on to the show room floor back in 1970. The windshield is brand new and the material on the top of the windshield was also professionally replaced. Both sun visors were recovered with brand new material. The front and the rear floor pans are the originals in very nice condition and have never been replaced. The frame still appearsin very nice condition as well. The Black carpeting is brand spanking new and there is a brand new set of four deluxe black carpetedfloor mats. The 442 emblem on the glove box is brand new as well as a brand new glove box liner was installed. There are brand new door locks and a brand new trunk lock with duplicate keys. The doors have brand new correct 70 door knobs. Both chrome door handles are brand new on the outside of both doors, and both arm rest pads on the inside of the doors are brand new.
This Convertible was factory ordered with the air conditioning option. It seems like all of the a/c components are still in tact including the a/c condenser in front of the radiator. The compressor shown in one of the pictures is included in the trunk. The pulley spins freely, so I'm assuming it is in good working condition. The new owner will need to have the compressor installed, and probably a Freon charge to get the a/c functioning again. That was a rare option on these car back then, so making the a/c working will be left up to the winning bidder.
This Olds rides ona brand new set of four Cooper Cobra Radial G/T P215/R7014 raised white lettered steel belted radial tires. I didn't bother to remove all of the brand new blue covering over the raised white letters to show that the tires truly are brand new and have no miles on them. The brand new tires are mounted on the color coded Super Stock II wheels that were painted at the same as the Astro Blue body color. All four wheels have brand newchrome lug nuts, all fourbolt-on center caps have brand new Olds center emblems, andall fourbeauty trim rings.
The rear end is a 12-bolt POSI-TRACTION rear-end!!! I am unsure of the gear ratio, but I'm thinking it is a 3.23 posi. The original trunk flooris in very nice condition and was coated with black and aqua spatter sprayto make it appear factory correct. I purchased a brand new factory styled trunk mat. The trunk compartment should stay in nice condition for many years to come. The trunkcarries a full size Super Stock II spare wheel with a brand new jack, jack stand, and crow bar. This way if there is ever a mishap on the road with a quick tire change you can be back on the road in minutes looking complete.
This sweet Oldsmobile convertible up for auction is a 442 W-30 recreation. I'm sure all the real Olds guys out there knowhowhard it is to find one painted in code 25 Astro Blue. I was told that the mileage is correct at just over 75,000 original miles. From the condition of the way I made the purchase I do believe the mileage to be correct, but have no way to verify it 100%. According to the previous owner, this Olds does have the original numbers matching Rocket engine. I double checked to make absolutely certain that this engine is the original Rocket. I personally viewed the numbers stamped on the block. I believe this engine does have mostly all of the original components.
I did have the original carburetor recently rebuilt. There is also a brand new alternator, brand new fuel pump, brand new fuel line, brand new fuel filter, brand new air filter, fresh oil change, brand new oil filter, brand new points, brand new distributor cap, brand new spark plugs, brand new spark plug wires, and a brand new Napa Legend top of the line battery to prepare this classic convertible for sale.
I saw no signs of this car ever being involved in an accident. The suspensionlooks to be in very good condition. This Oldsreally sits up awesome with the proud stance of a true 442 W-30. What you see is exactly what you get! These mostly complete older classics that have survived close to 50 years are becoming harder and harder to find. Especially in Astro Blue!!
The Nada Classic Car Price Guide currently has the 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Convertible with air conditioning listed at $372,600 in high condition, which theyconsider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices.
Nada has the average condition valued at $251,640, which theyconsider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a20-Footer!
They have the lowest condition value at $181,680 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car, but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration. Why not enjoy close to the same looking convertible for a fraction of those prices?
An exorbitant amount of time, money, and effort went into bringing this classic muscle carconvertible back to its former glory. This car is for the guy or girl that used to have one back in high school and would like to relive their youth or show everyone at their high school reunion how cool they still are. It may just be the perfect car for someone who simply wants to treat themselves to a classic muscle car convertible and enjoy their money while it increases in value.
This Oldsmobile is an investment that I believe will continue to rise as these cars have consistently shown to escalate in value each quarter. Here is a prime opportunity to acquire your dream car at a reasonable price. This car is being stored safely inside of my garage out of the elements until the lucky winning bidder has it picked up. The deposit will need to be paid within 24 hours, and the balance is due within 72 hours prior to pick-up or transport. I recently moved with my family, so this classic needs to find a new home. I previously lived in Wisconsin, but came back to where I grew up at in Indiana. The title is in my name issued in the State of Indiana and will be sent out the same day the funds are clear, or be kept in the glove compartment with the originalowner's manual for transport. Whichever way the winning bidder decides.
