1981 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Diesel
This is an Oldsmobile for the Oldsmobile enthusiast and the Oldsmobile Diesel enthusiast.
This Olds has approximately 88,000 miles. Overall the car is in great condition with a well preserved velour interior and rust free exterior. I just installed a new headliner with an exact color match to the original. The dash, glass, door panels, and fake wood are all in very good condition with no cracks. The vehicle has all the options you would expect in an 80’s luxury car and this model also has the optional gauge package for voltage, water temperature, and oil pressure. The car has all the original chrome, trim, and wire wheels that came with it in 1981. The only other recent maintenance to this vehicle outside of regular oil changes has been a new muffler, air cleaner, belts, and hoses. This is a well preserved original car. From the looks of it, the car was repainted (its same original color, Navy Blue) in the 1990’s and still shows respectfully at a 5 out of 10, a little buffing might bring it to a 7 or 8. Everything on the vehicle works with the exception of the air conditioning which may just need recharging. As you will note in the pictures, the bumper fillers are in need of replacing, this is typical for a GM car of this vintage. Like the rest of the car, the vinyl top is also in very good condition and has been well preserved over the years.
When this car was built, Oldsmobile prided themselves on how quickly the engine started and I will have to say it starts quickly. You simply wait a few seconds for the “wait” light to go off and it starts right up. Beginning in 1981, Oldsmobile improved their V-8 diesel engines to the model in this 98 Olds. As for power, this diesel is not sluggish, in fact, it seems to have more power than my Cadillac Brougham with a 5.0 HO V-8.
With 10 other collector cars, I am only selling this one to thin the heard and make room for the next purchase.
The car comes with the Owner’s Manual and a complete set of Oldsmobile Service Manuals.
