Vintage Motorcars is proud to present this 1970 Oldsmobile 442.
This legendary muscle car is the real deal, it's a true 442 that was the well-deserved recipient of a concours quality, frame-off restoration that was completed in 2014 in which no expense was spared. The entire restoration was documented in a photo album that will be included with the car. Shortly after the restoration was completed; the car was judged by the Oldsmobile Club of America in August of 2014 where it scored an impressive 918 out of a possible 1,000 points. Most of the deductions came from the interior color being changed from Gold cloth to black vinyl; incorrect exhaust manifolds, and incorrect heat shield and air cleaner tube. Since then; the correct exhaust manifolds, heat shield and air cleaner tube has been installed. Just barely over 1,000 miles have been put on the odometer since this stunning restoration.
Finding a true 442 of this restoration quality is tough enough, but this car also has the numbers matching 455 V8 and close ratio 4-Speed.

We will start off with the exterior of this beautiful Olds. The restoration on this car has been done for a few years, so you can rest assured there will be no issues of any paint lifting due to bad prep work. The body is straight down the sides and across the top. Both doors have excellent gaps with a great fit, with the hood and trunk also having excellent gaps as well. This 442 is done in its factory color combo of Bamboo Cream and is accented by the Black Stripes. The entire car has been buffed and polished to a mirror finish that's slick as a ribbon. As you can see; this 442 has the correct hood with the hood pins. At the time of the resto; this baby received all new emblems and a new grill to ensure the entire car looked as it it just rolled off the assembly line yesterday. All the chrome and stainless is in excellent condition with absolutely no signs of aging or fading. The glass is in excellent condition and all appears original. To finish off the exterior it's sitting on a set of 14" painted steelies with dog-dish hubcaps and a set of Goodyear Polyglas F70-14 tires.
Next, we will look at the interior of this 442. You will find a near-perfect black vinyl bench seat, carpet, headliner, dash and gauges. The seat covers are in new and all the foam padding feels like it did in 1970. On the floor you will notice that this car means business with the 100% correct 4-speed shifter sticking up out of the center hump. As you look at the dash you'll notice the simplicity of the gauges, heater controls and radio. More importantly... the originality and near perfect condition of these items.
Finally, we will get to the driveline of this Oldsmobile. Under the hood sports the original 455 V8 power plant that is absolutely numbers matching. That monster Olds motor is mated to the matching numbers Muncie four-speed transmission. This was not an extremely common configuration for Oldsmobile. The original owner of this car clearly wanted this beast to do 1 thing... go fast! The rear end is the original 12 bolt posi with the correct aluminum rear end cover.
The underside of this 442 is as clean as the top. Just take a look at the photos, and you can see just about everything has been replaced as you would expect from this type of restoration.
This is nothing short of one of the finest blue-chip muscle cars for sale in the country.
