Up for auction is a 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass S fastback 2-door post car. It is in excellent shape for its age and it is an excellent restoration candidate, having no major rust on the body. All glass is intact, but the windshield is cracked. This was a California and Arizona car, before it was brought to the El Paso, TX area (also a very arid part of the Southwest). I traded it for an El Camino and now I need to part ways with this car.
A little about the car: it is a bucket-seat, console (floor shift) car and it is all there on this car (I believe the only thing that’s missing is the shifter knob—no biggie). The console is still bolted to the floor, not loose like other cars out there. The dash is not cut-up and neither are the floors. The ORIGINAL seating and interior are still in this car, so no need to hunt for parts. All wiring is there (albeit old) and this is a factory A/C car (condenser and evaporator still in it). Car has no radiator. It has power drum brakes in front and power steering. Windows are all manual crank. No glass is broken other than the windshield. Transmission shifts fine, but no motor. Selling this car with no motor. All the molding on this car is in super shape. It has the moldings that run down the side of the car on the fenders and back up to the drip-rail. Taillights and headlights all there. Bumpers all there. Wheels are rollers but will hold air indefinitely and can get this car up and down a trailer for shipping purposes. There is a spare tire in the back that will not hold air for long, but it is a good spare wheel. All but one wheel have trim rings, but all have the center hub and rally wheels for this car. It is sitting on trailer away from dirt and moisture, under pretty good shade (these pictures were taken in full sunlight to show the wonderful condition of this vehicle). Like I said, this is an excellent restoration candidate. Good Arizona title, no keys for the ignition, the glove box, the trunk or the center console (good luck with what’s in the glove-box—you may find a diamond ring or a wad of cash). 442-style hood. In fact, it’d be easy to clone this into a 442 (has all the right trim). I believe this may have had a white vinyl top at one point, so the roof is surface rust only. Nobody has jumped on the roof and dented it—still very good condition. The original color of this car was a light green and white vinyl top. 15” wheels.
There are extra parts included with the car—a battery tray, headlight, trunk lock, two rear wheel well trim and extra trim parts. There is also a light housing included with the car. The picture of the trunk still shows the original trunk liner in this car. The metal underneath appears to be in good shape. Rear bumper and trim for back are in good shape. The left (driver side) is in better cosmetic shape than the right side because I THINK that’s the side that was most hit by the Arizona and/or Texas sun. Super straight car. No visible rust under the carpet (yes, it’s still there). Still has the original AM radio and an aftermarket (REALISTIC brand) FM add-on bolted to underside of dash. Has a single exhaust, driveshaft and 12-bolt rear end (don’t know the exact gear ratio). Trailing arm suspension, typical of Chevelles and other cars of this era. Has old, rear air shocks. Gas tank appears to be in good shape (no dents), but I haven’t poked a fishing camera down the spout. I’m certain it can be reused.
The car has some rust on the inner speaker panel, behind the rear seat backrest. Doesn’t appear to make it very far (not outside anyway).
This car will need to be trailered, transported or shipped. I can deliver within a couple hundred mile radius of El Paso, TX for $1 a loaded mile (no charge empty). We can meet somewhere and save you some time. Lightweight since no engine. Does come with transmission and torque convertor (which may be original to this car). Parking brake works so can sit on your trailer easily.
This is a NO RESERVE auction, meaning that this car will sell to this highest bidder! You don’t have to worry about meeting a ridiculous reserve price, so long as you meet AT LEAST the opening bid amount. Of course, you will have to arrange shipping with a licensed auto transport company and I can work with you on the logistics of this shipment. Of course, we can also discuss a meet-me-somewhere scenario for this car as well (stipulations apply—see above). All four tires will hold air for the duration of the transport and then some. Good luck bidding.
