1977 Oldsmobile Starfire Additional Info:
I have for sale my 1977 Oldsmobile Starfire Mirage. This is a two owner car. The last owner purchased it out of the local Oldsmobile dealers showroom. The car was ordered as a white base model with red interior and the optional 305 V8 with 2 BL carb and 4 speed transmission. The dealership body shop installed the Mirage body kit and painted the funky tomato red and gold stripes and installed aluminum mags. The V8 option was only available from 1977 thru 1979. This car is a blast to drive. I have owned it several years and always turn heads when I drive it. Since I have owned it I have replaced the radiator and hoses and thermostat, Oil pressure switch, electric in tank fuel pump and rubber fuel lines to tank and rubber filler neck. The fuel tank sending unit does not work. I looked for one when I had the tank out but could not find one. Someone told me you can get these rebuilt and I found two places on the internet that do it reasonably. The tank came out easily, bolts were like new since the car has never seen winter and always garaged. I put anti seize on all the bolts I took out so it should be an easy project. The hood release cable will not pull. I played with it for a little bit and tried to lube it but no luck. I just reach under the front and pop the latch with my finger. You will want to fix this because everyone wants to see under the hood. The car is dependable and I would drive it anywhere. There is a small shallow pea size dent on the hood and a small dent on the drivers side rear quarter panel (see picture) that happened less than two weeks after I bought the car. There was a paper bag on the freeway with a beer bottle in it and the car that went by me in the left lane barely clipped it and shot it at me like a missile. I couldn't duplicate it if I tried. The original owner touched up the stripes with some non matching paint. Most are small dabs except for the passenger side front shown in picture. He also took a spray can of blue paint and touched up the engine before he delivered the car to me. Tires are good and it has a new battery. This is not a luxury car, no power windows, locks cruise tilt or AC.
