This 442 is the most desirable red exterior with black striping and black interior. The exterior is in very nice condition. There are only some very minor paint defects that are pointed out in the photos and described below. You can also see in the photos the shine and reflection of the overall body, very nice!
This car as it is now starts right up and drives great! It has a racy note through the true OE exhaust. The engine is powerful and easily breaks the tires loose if your not careful (or if that is your intention), and the transmission operates properly. Being a 442, the car has factory power steering and factory power front disc brakes as well, making driving enjoyable and effortless. As with all 442 cars, this one has the plastic inner fender wells to make it more lightweight, the functional fiberglass Ram-Air hood also for a weight savings and better engine aspiration, and finally the factory functional Ram-Air intake assembly. We did find that this car also has the 442 performance rear end and reinforced rear trailing arms which are all true earmarks of the 442. A very great looking, great driving classic!
Tires are decent on original vintage wheels with great looking paint and trim and matching valve stem caps. The trim is all in pretty great original condition. This car has been stored indoors in a private collection. All of the glass is good and works perfect. The radio works like new and the glovebox is in good condition. The 442 sport steering wheel is original and in good condition and the horn operates properly.
The interior is in great shape. The seats are original and appear near mint and very comfortable. The driver seatbelt isn't latching but we are trying to find a replacement. The gauges and lights work except for the tachometer. The weatherstripping is in aged but good condition and appears to be all there.
The car runs and drives amazing. I have driven it alot for testing and pleasure and it is alot of fun and gets alot of attention. The car has no mechanical problems. We are confident that the miles are original. This car also comes with a cool miniature 442 keychain so you dont forget which car the keys go to.
In addition it has all the visual horse power you could want not to mention nice bucket seats and solid floors and frame. It has the W30 spoiler and wide stripe 442 appearance package.Defects:
• small paint defects on edge of driver door, near trunk lock, near edge of trunk lip from age or accident
• small paint defects on hood side and front edge from age (fiberglass hoods were installed with rivets and the rivets cause defects with age)
• small crack in dash plastic over glovebox and vinyl cracking on top of dashpad on passenger side
• as is normal with vintage 4spd transmissions it sometimes takes a little force to shift out of reverse
• the trunk has been previously repaired
• the worst defect is the inside structure of the fiberglass hood has started cracking from age near the latch, but is still very solid and easily repaired.
Other than the above, the car looks amazing, drives well and gets alot of attention. Very fun car to take to the local meet or cruise around town. We have driven the car through town many times and never had any problems. Keep in mind it is 46 years old and not a new car, but it is in good condition considering its age. You can hop in right now and enjoy.
We are not just here to sell cars. We are just like you, collectors and lovers of vintage automobiles. We believe vintage vehicles to be a great investment, and one of the only investments you can actually enjoy. We also believe there is a classic car out there to fit nearly every need and budget. From Ferrari to Gremlin every vintage car has an interesting history and character and can be thoroughly enjoyable.
You can feel confident in buying a car from us, because you are not just buying an 'old, used car'. We have been buying and selling vintage cars now for over 20 years, and are looking for the same qualities you are in the cars we sell. You can be sure that every vehicle we offer has received a 100 point inspection and is fully road tested by experienced technicians. We want every light to work, every switch to operate properly and every mechanical feature to be functional. While this is not always completely possible, we will make whatever repairs we can to bring any vehicles we buy up to these standards before we offer it for sale. And we will not sell any vehicle until it is considered 'complete' and we have personally driven it ourselves. We expect every vehicle to be a great representation of its Make/Model, completely functional and street drivable for enjoyment without undue fear of mechanical failure or safety. We are collectors as well, and hope for the same buying experience you do, a good quality, easily drivable vehicle.
