It's not just that you're looking at a real-deal code-44 1969 Oldsmobile 442 hardtop coupe that's priced quite nicely... It's that you're looking at a stellar classic American muscle machine that went through a 10-year full restoration completed in 2016 to make sure this feels fresh and authentic. In fact, the only piece that isn't period-correct is under the hood, and we don't hear any complaints from muscle car fans about extra V8 power.
The 442 has always been a balance of power and luxury, and it just seems like the '69 car tipped the scales towards performance. The Crimson Red is a bold an aggressive color that only deepens the intimidation factor through the super-slick shine from an investment in a professional modern paintjob. The aggressive streak continues with black hood stripes, 442 badging, full-width rear spoiler, and proper Mag-style SS1 wheels. But above all, you want this Olds because of its style. They did amazing things in '69, like the trim line that starts at the headlights and highlights all the great curves of the Holiday Hardtop's sheetmetal. Plus, we know you love the way the trunk, taillights, and rear bumper are all part of one interwoven design.
The interior was also given all the right investments on this classic. So stepping inside feels like stepping into 1969. The handsome buckets have a nice intricate pattern and plenty of comfortable bolstering to perfectly deliver the 442's dual luxury and performance personality. In between the buckets is the optional center console that's a very desirable option. Of course, as an Olds, there's plenty of burled walnut applique on the dash and console. And, when the wood is this nice, it actually does a very fine job of adding character to the interior. Everyone benefits from features like the power windows, AM/FM radio, and heat/defrost, but this is a true driver's car at heart. The four-spoke sports steering wheel should look familiar to any sporty Olds fan, and beyond that, the triple pod gauge package with large speedo and tach feels downright European.
Olds fans were a bit confused in '69 why GM didn't lift its displacement restrictions and allow the larger 455 cubic-inch V8 in the hot 442. This car rectifies that conundrum, and the extra large Olds big-block is under the hood for a more potent muscle car. The Rocket 455 V8 received plenty of attention during the restoration, and so it looks terrific with the golden block and bold red air topper radiating power from within the slick black engine bay. In fact, the whole painted motor masks a few extra performance upgrades such as the Edelbrock aluminum intake and Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor. This added power fires up with authority and makes a great rumble as it exits out of the header-fed dual exhaust. So even with all these upgrades, this real-deal 442 still properly lives up to its namesake 400+ cubic inches, four-barrel carburetor, and dual exhaust a true '69 4-4-2! As usual with an Oldsmobile, no matter how much power it's putting down, it still has the luxury of all-day usability. This comes from features such as the power steering, power brakes, and a three-speed automatic transmission. And as you look over the undercarriage photos, you'll begin to spot all the details that make the difference in a full restoration. After all, new bushings might look like a small element, but they make all the difference out on the road.
The sale comes complete with restoration photos, build receipts, and even a dyno sheet for the big V8. A total package like this never stays idle for long, so don't miss out. Call today!!!
