If you think you’ve seen this car here before, you have but I’ve done more work on this car in the past year! And the last 'buyer' never contacted me or paid for the car. The background: I bought this car in 1995 with about 66,000 miles on it & have not driven it in the Illinois winters since. Current mileage is 121,600. It's been kept in a heated, smoke-free garage. I don't smoke. It is truly rust-free! The car has been well-maintained, runs & drives excellently. The ride is incredibly smooth, the handling sharp thanks to the FE3 suspension. In the past 20,000 miles or so it has had the tires, brakes, front calipers & hoses, Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks, timing chain, coolant hoses, upper & lower intake manifoldgaskets, electronic EGR valve, rear main seal (it still seeps just a little), newsubframe &A frame bushings, front brake calipers & hoses, the A/C is converted to R134 with every single ‘O’ ring replaced, and the dryer. Recently I also replaced the ignition module which is located below the coil pack using a new AC Delco part– this car has never ever quit running or stalled (fairly common with these engines) but it was idling rough when hot & the goo was dripping out of the module. The idle is clean now after installing the new module. I could have bought a module for $30, but even though I’m selling the car, spent $100 for a better AC branded part. The digital dash, auto headlights, headlight doors, sunroof, digital touch screen 'VIC' heater & radio controls all work! The wheels are in excellent condition with new center caps-these caps break when the mechanic flops the wheels on the ground with the good side facing down. Factory McGard wheel locks are in great condition, with an extra ‘key’. The hood insulator was replaced with a new GM ‘Toronado’ Logo part. The car has tilt steering wheel and 14-way power seats which all work! Of course it has power windows & locks. The cassette player which is mounted in the console is dead, and never got an estimate on repairing it. The headliner is new, the aftermarket sunroof has been recently adjusted. This sunroof has a sunshade to keep the hot sun out. The VIC display (Visual Information Center) was an option for these cars, and is a touch-screen control for the heater, radio, speaker balance & equalizer, compass, engine numerical gauges (the main dash cluster has gauges that read ‘Low / High’), Fuel economy, ETA, fuel range, even calendar events! The steering wheel controls all work perfectly featuring Temp up/down, Fan up/down, A/C vent mode, AM/FM, volume up/down & radio presets. All of those controls are also on the VIC display. Both sun visors have vanity mirrors and lighting with ‘bright/dim’ switch which work, and they have the slide-out sunshades for extra shading. The rear view mirror has 2 levels of auto-darkening, or ‘off’ mode. The cruise control works, intermittent wipers work. The car features rear automatic ride leveling which works with the on-board air compressor/bleed down built into the rear shocks/struts, and rear suspension has a transverse fiberglass leaf spring, similar to the Corvettes of this era. The front suspension is standard Macpherson Strut. I replaced every front end bushing in the suspension, and on the K-frame engine/body mounts. The Trofeo features great 80's GM styling which shows with the interior detail & external body design. The car is so unique, I often get asked 'What is it?'. The Trofeo package added a blacked-out grille & taillight plus the ground effects & dual outlet exhaust. The FE3 suspension option ads larger sway bars – this car handles great, almost like a Trans-Am, but the ride is like a Cadillac. It’s a ton of fun to drive! The brakes were pulling to one side so I recently installed new front calipers & new hoses, and flushed new brake fluid through the entire system. As you can see, the leather front seat thigh panels are split pretty bad and the rest of the seat condition is aged but decent. The carpeting is really nice as is the console & center armrest. The dash pad is nice & other interior panels are nice. The carpet in the rear package area has a bad spot, not a stain, just a piece of missing carpet about the size of a silver dollar – like a chemical burn. It was like that when I got it. The paint is aged, but looks great at 20 feet. There are a few hail dings on the hood and 2 on the trunk. The back of the trunk also has 2 pellet dings from the local hooligans. Ask any questions you have, I’m an ASE certified mechanic, and always thought I would keep this car forever, and I maintained it like I would. I then fell in love with another car & have to let this one go.
