This beautiful gem has only 22,010 original miles. When describing an old classic cars, we normally don't like using words like
"Perfect", "Pristine" or "Mint". With this vehicle, those are the words that came to mind when we inspected and photographed this Oldsmobile.
We can see how this vehicle achieved a Senior Preservation Award (2009) at the Oldsmobile Club of American Nationals (OCA) show in Silver Springs, PA.
Please read the detailed description and view all of the 96 pictures listed below.
Would you buy a car on eBay with four pictures and one paragraph of description? NO.
That is why at Classic Cars Online, our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction.

Body & Paint: The paint is in excellent condition without any fading, scratches, checking, thin spots, orange peel, or bubbles. The factory color is called "Platinum". The factory paint code is "69". (See photo of cowl trim tag.) The car has been repainted once, the owner is not sure when. The paint looks great with a deep shine. The exterior is fully detailed and show ready. The body is extremely solid, straight and rust free. It still retains all of its original body panels and floor pans. The body panel fit and alignment looks great and is free of any door dings, dents or scratches. Both the doors close with ease. The weatherstripping is soft and supple and in great condition. The vehicle still has its factory correct "T3" headlights installed. (All four of them are working fine.)
Chrome & Trim: The chrome bumpers are true and straight and look great with a very high show quality shine. The vehicle retains all of its original stainless steel and aluminum trim pieces that were properly refinished and buffed. They are all straight and without any dings or scratches. The front grille, headlight bezels, taillight bezels, emblems and all the pot metal trim pieces are original and all in excellent condition. Concourse quality.
Interior: The entire interior is all original. The factory "Black" (Trim Code: 930) interior is in excellent condition. (w/ optional Strato bucket seats and center console.) We didn't see any wear, fading, or other problems with the interior. This original interior looks almost like new. The door panels are also in great shape with no wear on the arm rests or handles. The factory black padded dash doesn't have any cracks or other problems. The factory carpet still looks great. It has rubber "Oldsmobile" floor mats. The interior chrome, knobs, handles, and other trim pieces are all beautiful. All of the electrical items were checked to make sure they were all working correctly. Lights, horns, gauges, tachometer, heater controls, wipers, turn signals, back up lights, etc.. The only item(s) currently not working are the factory clock, and the factory AM radio. (The radio recently just quit. Owner hasn't had time to check to see if it may have a loose connection.) The original owner's manual is still in the glove box.
Engine Compartment: The engine compartment still retains the original look right down to the correct hoses, clamps, battery and cables. The compartment houses the original 350 CID "W-31" V8 engine. This 325 horsepower drivetrain has only 22,010 original miles. The W-31, Outside Air Induction System (OAI) still retains all of its original parts. (Air cleaner, hoses, ducts and mounting hardware.) This power plant starts, idles and runs great. It doesn't tick or smoke. You will be amazed on how nice this engine performs. It pulls very strong and sounds awesome.
The entire engine is highly detailed to the original appearance. This can be seen with all the correct finishes and date coded components under the hood. Such as the correct air cleaner/cover, alternator, radiator, and all the correct clips, fasteners, and decals. It has the correct looking vintage Delco battery. Please view the "Mechanical" section below for more details on this engine.
Trunk Compartment: Turn back the clock to 1969. Open the trunk lid and you will see what it looked like in '69. The new polyglas spare tire and rally wheel matches the other four that are on the car. The correct jack, stand, handle and jacking tools are all stored in their locations. Again, the trunk floor is solid and rust free. Also in the trunk is the correct black rubber "Oldsmobile" trunk mat. The underside of the trunk deck lid still retains the original factory decals/instructions.
Glass: The vehicle is equipped with factory "Soft-Ray" tinted glass. All of the date coded glass pieces are original to the vehicle including the front windshield. The windshield is in great shape without and stone chips, cracks or wiper marks. The side windows roll up and down with ease and no problems. The chrome and stainless steel trim pieces around the windows are excellent. The vehicle does have the optional rear window defogger blower.
Chassis - Frame & Undercarriage: The undercarriage was cleaned and detailed to its original appearance. The chassis is very solid and rust free and still has all of its original floor pans. A new aluminized dual exhaust systems was installed. One clue that this vehicle has only 22K original miles are the shocks. The original spiral shocks are still installed and are working great. While looking at the undercarriage photos, make sure to check out how nice the original rocker panel seams are.
Wheels & Tires: The original SSII rally wheels are in great shape. They have the correct finish and appearance. There are no scratches or dents in any of the trim rings. The chrome Oldsmobile center caps look great with no problems. Mounted on these wheels are five(5) Goodyear polyglas F70-14 white lettered tires. These period correct tires are in like new condition.
Mechanical: Engine-Transmission-Rear End:
The entire drivetrain is original to the vehicle. This W-31 number matching 350cu. in. engine was "select-fit" from the factory. (Blue Printed.) This was part of the W-31 OAI package. It received #5 cylinder heads with larger valves and matching heavy duty springs, honed bores with 10.5 compression flat top pistons, a high left duration camshaft along with special recalibrated Q-Jet carburetor. Feeding air to this beast are two lower mounted factory air scoops running into the original special dual snorkel air cleaner with a chrome lid. It runs great and is very strong with no known problems. It doesn't leak, tick, smoke, or stumble. The idle is awesome with a strong "lopey" sound. The car runs cool with the factory heavy duty radiator and doesn't over heat. (The heater core is bypassed.) The vintage looking battery is nice and strong.
The original Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 automatic transmission was special to the W-31 cars also. The special coded "JO" tag is still fastened to the transmission. This transmission shifts nice and easy. It does not leak or make any type of noise. The stock floor shifter works smoothly and looks great in the center console. The posi 3.90:1 rear differential is also working great and does not make any noise.
Brakes:
The vehicle is equipped with non-power drum brakes. (Couldn't get power brakes with the W-31 package.) These stock brakes were gone over, adjusted and are working great. They do not pulsate, fade, or pull. The parking brake has been adjusted and is working fine also.
Suspension:
The stock suspension is in good condition. The items are detailed correctly with the correct finishes. As part of the W-31 package, the vehicle received front and rear heavy duty sway bars with boxed lower rear control arms. The original spiral shocks are still on the front and rear. The car drives awesome without any shakes or vibrations. The vehicle has power steering and is working great with no known problems.
Exhaust:
The vehicle has the correct exhaust manifolds that feed into a newer "Aluminized" dual exhaust system. The system looks and sounds great with the correct sound for these cars.
Manuals & Paperwork: The original owner's manual is in the glove box. The owner has the original window sticker along with a laminated copy of the window sticker. An Oldsmobile Shop and Body repair manuals. A stack of information from the Oldsmobile History Center regarding this W-31.
Shows & Awards: Only 569 of these cars were built. It would be very hard to find another W-31 in this outstanding condition and with only 22,000 original miles. Now add that it still has the original numbers matching drivetrain along with the original interior. Don't forget it has won a "Senior Preservation Award" at the Oldsmobile Nationals. It was also featured on the OCA "W-Car" poster. The vehicle is stored in the owner's personal climate controlled garage. This is a blue chip concourse collector vehicle. You will not be disappointed. Don't miss your opportunity to add this caliber of vehicle to your collection.
