1956 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Additional Info:
Selling my low mileage, restored 1956 olds. It is a fun car that gets attention everywhere you go. It has the original drive train, and starts right up every time. The car has an older restoration on it, with attention given to almost everything on the car to bring it back to its former glory. The engine, fuel system, suspension, steering, brakes, exhaust, tires, chrome, stainless, paint, body, electric and interior have all benefited from some loving care. It has the original 324 Rocket engine with 4 barrel carburetor and the 4 speed hydramatic transmission. It has the treadlevac power brake system, as well as power steering. It is a solid heavy car, and was built like tank. It is an enjoyable cruiser, however, since it is 60 year old technology, this car requires you to learn how to operate it. It does not steer, stop or handle like a modern car. The power drum brakes takes a little getting used to, as does the "slush-o-matic" transmission, steering radius and suspension. I have resisted the temptation to modernize the car with different motor, trans, brakes, steering, exhaust because it is just too original. The only thing I did modify was the power antennae, headlight covers and I added led lights to the hood ornament to make the rocket boosters light up. The clock does not work on the car and I found a blown fuse for it, but haven't replaced it, I am glad that the clock is not on to drain my battery while the car is sitting. But everything else electrical works. Horn, lights, blinkers, wipers, radio, heat. The paint and body work is ok, with a few bubbles starting to form by the rear wheel and front fender, you can see in the pictures.Selling to the continental US only, buyer to perform all due diligence on the car, arrange for inspection, and/or ask questions before bidding. I will be showing the car at the Deadmans Curve Car show at the hot rod farm in NJ on 06/17 if you want to check it out. Buyer to arrange for pick up/shipping/transporting the car from Oak Ridge NJ 07438. Deposit by paypal, balance to be made in full 7 days from end of auction. This is an absolute sale, as the highest bidder wins it.
