1985 Olds Cutlass Ciera Diesel "Barn Find". A virtually complete original V6 Diesel FWD Cutlass Ciera with the classic Oldsmobile 4.3L Diesel engine. There are many indications that the mileage is original including original front struts with GM part numbers. This is a mechanically sound good running vehicle, with a number of repairs I've done to make it roadworthy, including over $1500 in parts. Fuel system: Cleaned fuel tank, installed new: strainer, in line filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, injectors. Engine: New head gaskets, water pump, motor & transmission mounts, glow plug relay, serpentine belt. Suspension & Steering: New shocks & struts, steering rack, alignment. Also has a new battery and new wiper blades.
The body is virtually complete and original mostly with only surface rust. The exception to that is the trunk lid which has rust coming through from behind along the rear at bottom. Also the front left fender has a small pin sized hole from previous damage which seems to have rusted through. The moldings and emblems are virtually complete. The ones that have fallen off are in the glove box or in the trunk. There are only two pieces of molding missing: the right front door 'belt molding' and the left front fender 'belt molding' which is a small piece which extends the door molding to the wheel well (you can see it on the right side of the car).
Interior needs headliner and dash repair. The carpet and seats are soiled and faded but not torn or punctured. The 'bells & whistles' need attention.
This is an excellent restoration candidate, in that it's clean, and virtually all here. You could paint it, fix a few small items, and drive it, or do a complete interior restoration as well. Highway MPG is about 32. The Custlass Ciera was an award winning car in it's day. I have an 84 model with almost 500K miles, and still enjoy driving it. I've included links to the review piece on it, and the period commercial:
