1993 Nissan 300ZX 2+2 Additional Info:
1993 Nissan 300ZX 2+2• Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Poster Artist John Souder’s personal car• The car is exceptionally clean in and out!• Fastidiously maintained and exercised; car was Souder’s daily driver• Cherry Red Pearl exterior (code AH3) and Charcoal leather interior (code G)• One of only 1,767 300ZXs made with this exterior/interior combination in 1993 and one of 11,559 Nissan 300ZXs, all models, made in 1993• 3.0L 24-valve DOHC V-6 engine (code VG30DE) with (N-VCT) and sequential fuel injection• Four-speed automatic transmission (code RE4R01A) and 4.08 gearing• Air-conditioning, power rack-and-pinion steering, power four-wheel and ventilated disc brakes with anti-lock, driver’s side air bag, cruise control, power windows, power locks, power mirrors and power front seats• T-tops, remote fuel filler door and hatch releases and rear defroster and rear wiper/washer• Roadmaster subwoofer in cargo bay• Very tidy undercarriageEven though Nissan heavily advertised its “4-door Sports Car,” it still made plenty of its two-door sports car in the 1990s, the Nissan 300ZX. This example belonged to Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Poster Artist John Souder and was his personal car. He fastidiously maintained and drove the car on a regular basis. This nineteen ninety-three 2+2 edition is dressed in a somewhat rare exterior color and this 300ZX is in exceptional condition in and out!Made in Nissan’s Shatai, Japan factory in July 1992, this Z is finished in Cherry Red Pearl, (code AH3) one of only 1,767 300ZXs made in this exterior/interior combination. The paint and trim are in overall very good condition, however, there is damage to the driver’s side B-pillar. The door opens and closes normally and the driver’s side window is intact. The bodywork is solid otherwise, the engine bay is extremely tidy, the battery appears new, the cargo area is in great shape for its age and the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body and look great. The 2+2 was only available with T-top removable roof panels and this car still has its original storage bags for the T-tops.This Z rolls on Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires in front and Goodyear American Eagle tires in rear, all sized at 225/55R16. Each tire is mounted to a factory, five-spoke alloy wheel. All wheels and tires are in very good order. The car has front, unequal-length control arms with additional articulating hub and multi-link rear suspension. The paint still holds a great shine and luster and shows well. There are some stone chips and slight spidering on the front bumper.Like all 300ZX 2+2s imported to the US, this one has the normally aspirated engine. The motor is a 3.0L, 24-valve, DOHC V-6 (code VG30DE) with variable valve timing (N-VCT) and sequential fuel injection. Backing the motor is a four-speed automatic transmission (code RE4R01A) with a 4.08:1 rear end. Its timing belt was replaced at 101,166 miles, according to the underhood sticker. Driver convenience features are plentiful – air-conditioning, power rack-and-pinion steering, power four-wheel and ventilated disc brakes with anti-lock, cruise control, power windows, power locks, power mirrors and power front bucket seats. Other safety and convenience features include driver’s side airbag, remote fuel filler door and hatch releases, rear defroster and rear wiper/washer.Inside, the car’s Charcoal leather interior is in overall very good order. The center console flows around the driver and front passenger; however, the low cowl never lets you feel cramped while sitting behind the wheel. The leather high-back front buckets and rear demi-buckets appear solid and the surfaces look great for their age, as does the matching carpet. The four-spoke steering wheel houses the driver’s air bag and there are pods for minor controls that jut from the dash. The inner door panels, dashboard and center console all echo the rest of the interior’s theme and an aftermarket JVC AM/FM stereo with CD player supplants the factory Bose stereo with cassette deck.Artist John Souder created the first 37 posters for the annual Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Festival to celebrate the cars built by the Auburn Automobile Company. Souder had an eye for detail and artistic style that few possess. Through the decades, his designs have become examples of commercial and automotive art. Souder died in October 2018.The Z32 was a new design for Nissan. The body was wider with a rounder profile and fewer hard edges. It had a marginally increased drag coefficient of .31 compared to the Z31's .30. Unchanged from the previous generation 300ZX was the 3.0L VG30 V-6 engine, now with DOHC and variable valve timing (N-VCT). For 1993, the following changes happened: • Brake caliper material changed from aluminum to iron to help alleviate warpage/shimmy issues • Seat belts redesigned and moved from door mounts to true B-pillar mounts • New style fuel injectors for the non-turbo that were less prone to premature failure • Upgraded Bose stereo made standard • Air injection valve (AIV) system eliminated • On non-turbo models, ECUs changed from eight-bit to 16-bit by Japan Electronic Control System Co.Nissan utilized the Cray-2 supercomputer to design the new Z32 with a form of CAD software making it one of the first production cars to utilize this tool.Competition to this Nissan in 1993 included Chevrolet’s Corvette, Dodge’s Stealth ES, Ford’s Mustang LX, Honda’s Prelude Si, Lexus’ SC300, Mazda’s RX-7, Mitsubishi’s 3000 and Toyota’s Supra. If you really wanted one of these while you were in high school or college, before getting married and having kids, now is your chance. If you owned a 300ZX when they were new, isn’t it time to try one again? Come by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to check out this 2+2 rolling time capsule from the golden age of Japanese sports cars.VIN: JN1RZ26H6PX535022This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri.
