Description 1958 Nash Metropolitan Hardtop

Located near PORTLAND, OREGON.
The Nash Metropolitan was the first widely-marketed American compact car during the 1950's. In an era of "big", the Metropolitan wanted to fill the niche as a small, second family car for errands around town. While sized at just 12.5 feet long (a full six feet shorter than a '58 Cadillac!), surprisingly there is a lot of room inside. Today, Metropolitans have gained a loyal following as a fun car for showing and driving.
This car received a full restoration by a Metropolitan expert and today has clocked less than 500 miles since completion. Finished in correct "Mardi Gras Red" and "Frost White" paint, it shows beautifully with a deep shine. All chrome was replated and trim polished. New steering wheel, interior and carpet with red/white houndstooth upholstery. Factory radio. Please see photos that were just taken for this listing and show the outstanding current condition. Comes with a large assortment of extra parts.
The rebuilt Austin 1490cc 4 cylinder engine runs great. Rated at 50 horsepower with a top speed of 80 mph. Manual transmission. Drives, shifts and stops well. Please see video of engine running.
There is little to add. If you are looking for a beautifully restored Metropolitan that's ready to show or go, this is a great one. "Smiley" (as this car is affectionately known) is ready to bring more miles of smiles to a new owner. The only reason for selling is to make room in the garage. A realistic reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its quality. It could not be restored to this level today for the reserve price.
