1930 Nash 480 5 Passenger Sedan Additional Info:

1930 Nash 480 5-Passenger Sedan

Recent consignment from New Mexico where it was protected in dry storage! a 242ci Twin Plug OHV Inline 6 engine and 3-speed transmission! Fitted with 19″ artillery wood wheels, whitewall tires, split bumpers, mechanical 4-wheel brakes, and more! A running and driving older restoration that continues to show well. A rare find that is priced to sell!

With the Great Depression era in full spring, Nash Motors Company continued to produce some of the sharpest mid-luxury automobiles on the market! Part of the success was to lure buyers with largely over engineered engine dependability and durability. This included a six cylinder block utilizing 7 main bearings, overhead valves with solid lifters, twin plug coil ignition, and Marvel carburetor with Heat Control System!

Offered here is an older restored 1930 Nash Series 480 5-passenger Sedan sitting on a 118" wheelbase chassis and finished in a Bright Red and Black combination exterior and Black diamond pattern quilted custom interior. Under the hood lies a 242ci Twin Plug OHV Inline 6 cylinder engine offering 74.5 horsepower and 3-speed manual transmission. Features on this impressive car include 4-wheel mechanical brakes, rear-mounted spare, twin cowl vents, chrome cowl lamps, 19" wood spoke artillery wheels with Lucas 4-ply whitewall tires measuring 5.50 x 19, crank out windshield, aftermarket trumpet horn, and Staub tail lamp with Nash-embossed brake lens.

Coming in from New Mexico from dry storage as an inherited car to the family based here in St. Louis, this heirloom came to us for mechanical review. While in our shop, we cleaned the fuel system, replaced the battery, cleaned the spark plugs, changed the engine fluids, and brought this Nash to life without hesitation! It has definitely been well kept by the previous caretaker and exercised regularly. We would like to point out that the rear mounted spare is skillfully made from cut metal, not wood. The driver side door glass is cracked, and the speedometer/odometer is missing. The paint is presentable in a 5-foot capacity as mild to moderate lacquer checking is appearing on the several panels supporting an older restoration completed many years ago. Most of the larger chrome pieces remain in good condition though.

It arrived wearing outdated Utah license tags indicating it may have been a Western example for many years. We feel the car starts and runs wonderfully, shifts clean, and brakes confidently. Although we have not the liberty of adding any significant miles to the car, it remains faithful each time we have needed to start and move it. It possesses a remarkably solid body and chassis and should be an ideal candidate for potential restoration, or continued to use as-is. Please note, this vehicle is titled as a 1929 model year Nash Sedan. We will be adding a video of the engine running for potential buyers to hear. From the same collection came a 1930 Ford Model A Sport Coupe for your review as well. We ask that you call with additional questions or schedule a chance to review in person.
