Wow! You're looking at a 1960 Metropolitan that was born in Arizona and spent its entire life there until 1992 when it came to Virginia, where itwas garaged and rarely driven for the next 25 years! This is a survivor that is mostly original, including paint and has low miles.
The car is fully documented with original title application, registrations through the yearsand lots more. This neat car has been collector owned since the early 80's and has always been garage kept and well cared for.
It has no rust that I can find, no dents and no evidence of any body work, ever. This Metro was recently tuned-up and has a new fuel pump & fuel filter. It starts, runs, drives and stops well with no issues. It does smoke a little bit like most old cars do, but I think that would subside somewhatif the car was used more. It makes no funny noises and idles perfectly. It shifts through all 3 forward gears and reverse with no grinding or other problems.
The exterior of the car is 100% original and in very good condition. The original paint has some chips, etc. but still shines. The stainless, chrome and glassare all in great shape. The tires are old but have plenty of tread and appear to be in good condition.
In the interior, I believe the front seat has been recovered at some point and the carpet appears to have been replaced. Otherwise, it is original and everything is in working order, except the radio, which does come on, but doesn't seem to receive any channels.
This is a great car to use and/or preserve as-is. It would also make an excellent candidate for freshening or a full restoration as it won't need any bodywork and there will be no surprises when the paint is removed. It could also be used as an example of what came from the factory for anyone restoring one of these vehicles. I have bought and sold many Metropolitans over the years. This one is, by far, the best original example I've ever seen. Don't let this opportunity pass you by!
Please contact me with any photo requests, questions, or to schedule a showing. I can also help with transport and shipping if necessary. I'm selling this great car for a friend and I have a clear title to go with it, along with plenty of documentation to show its history. It is priced to sell and is ready to enjoy as soon as it arrives at your home!
Thanks for looking and Good Luck!
