This is the first vehicle I have attempted to sell on ebay. I'm no stranger to the truck shuffle, so send your carrier and I'll ensure it gets loaded.
I love this Montero. Unfortunately, I have too many projects and I can't complete this one to the level of perfection that I feel it deserves.
Why am I starting at $3000? Quite frankly, I don't know what a "fair" price is for this one. If this were a Subaru, it would already be in a junkyard, but this is not a Subaru, and I don't know how many of these are left in the country, in this great of condition (cosmetically).
I decided to post this vehicle here because I want to find the right buyer for this vehicle. It is certainly a project, but wouldn't take much effort to get running as it sits. Also, it comes with most of the parts needed to get it running. I bought the vehicle from my friend, who owned it for +/- 7 years. It was his daily driver. According to him, the fan clutch assembly went out. He pulled the fan, radiator and belts, and then someone tried to steal it. Unfortunately for the thieves, it didn't run at the time, so they were unable to steal it. After that, he threw in the towel and sold the car to me almost a year ago. I just finally got into it this month.
It has a clean Colorado title in my name. It comes with two keys.
Since I received the car somewhat torn down with a failed fan clutch, I instinctively bought a water pump kit along with $600-$700of other "tune up" parts, which will be included. The only thing (to my knowledge) that I needed to buy still was the harmonic balancer and woodruff key.
My friend had installed a new alternator right before it went down, as well as purchased two fuel pumps from Napa that I found in the car.
When I pulled the timing cover off and saw just how much grease and grime had built up, I decided right there that cleaning alone was more than I had time for this summer with everything else I have planned.
So I throw in the towel as well. This is an incredible project vehicle that deserves to find the right owner. I don't know how long it has been in Colorado, but in my opinion, the amount of rust is "low". I'm happy to answer any questions and take any photos by request.
List of parts I bought: (I typically buy the highest quality part option)-Timing Belt, Water Pump, & Component Kit-PCV Valve-Air Filter-Fuel Filter-Tensioner Pulley-Idler Pulley-Upper Radiator Hose-Lower Radiator Hose-6x Spark Plugs-Thermostat-Radiator Cap-"Tune Up Kit" - Spark Plug Wires, Cap & Rotor-Ignition Coil-Oil Filter-Temperature Sender/Sensor-Fan Clutch
I believe this is everything. I'll send all the records I have. I think I lost one packing slip from Rockauto. There are parts included that I did not purchase.
New Alternator (installed)2x Fuel Pump (unsure which is correct)
