I hate to see it go, but I just don't have the time to keep restoring it, so I'm letting it go for a steal to a new owner who will treat it right. NO TRADES or any tire-kicking and you MUST have the cash to purchase. I am not selling this to make a profit or find a, "deal" on anything else. If you don't know what this SUV is right away, you're probably not the right buyer. If you do, you'll know how rare and wonderful these old rides are. They absolutely do not make them like they used to. I've owned and adored several "1st Gens" and this one is as solid as any.
I just put over $3,000 into this (I have all receipts!) to have the engine completely rebuilt (new plugs, wires, gaskets, pumps, timing belt, idler). All new brakes all around. Brand new suspension. Brand new steering and linkages. I am letting this go for much less than what I have into it. 4 wheel drive, Automatic, Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Brakes, Power Sunroof. Has the large 3 Liter V6 that purs like a kitten. Nice condition, mechanically excellent and just needs the aesthetics to be perfect. It has a few spots of rust and the interior shows its age. The owner before me liked cigars and the headliner needs to be repaired. If you know anything about these rigs you know they are built like tanks. You can either drive it like it is, and it would make a great daily driver or weekend warrior into the woods/mountains, or if you were to invest a little money into it this could be a very desirable and attractive SUV. Everyone loves the boxy shape and most folks who aren't familiar with it asks me if it's an old Range Rover. I just completed a 600 mile road-trip and it ran as smooth as a brand new SUV. Ice Cold AC, Runs excellent, very reliable car, excellent transportation. Has a factory trailer hitch that hasn't been used more than a handful of times, so it looks and is practically new. Has a modern stereo installed with an input jack and remote, but I also havethe original radio that will come with the car.
Glass and rubber are all in great shape. The windows have fading tint filmthat is starting tocome off andyou'll want toremovethis or replace it.
To be as thorough as possible, this is a 26 year old vehicle that is in original un-modified condition. It is not perfect and any bidders/buyers need to understand there are many cosmetic imperfections and aesthetic work needs to be done to this vehicle to make it perfect. I will try to be as complete as possible on the details but ask any questions prior to purchasing.
Here is what is wrong with it:
The driver seat is worn. There are no tears, but a few small speckle stains and the cushioning is worn down a bit. I still think it's comfortable, but compared to the other seats in the car that look showroom new, the driver seat could use new foam.
The headliner is coming down in the rear. There are no tears up front but if there are passengers in the back it hangs down.
The passenger side rear quarter panel has some rust. The size is about 6" by 4". There are a few other small quarter size spots around the vehicle, see the pictures for details. The body shop tells me this will require to cut out the rust and weld the section back on with new material to fix this properly, which will be a couple hundred bucks.
The front right panel has a small indentation from a parking lot light-pole ding. The body shop tells me that one can be pulled/hammered out easily. No rust there.
The power sunroof still works but the open/close is slow going. I'm not sure if that's just how these things work or if it means the motor is on its last leg. My main concern has been water seal, and it closes tight as a glove with no water entry at all.
This is is by no means a perfect condition example, but it has been a wonderful daily driver and is a lot of fun as-is. Put a fewdollars into making it pretty you'd have a very rare and beautiful SUV.
