1991 Mitsubishi Montero Additional Info:
I bought this 1991 Montero in December from it's original owner. He purchased the car from Mitsubishi motors in 1991 with 14k miles on it. Those first miles were put on by Mitsubishi motors as a corporate vehicle. The car fax report supports this. It has only been titled by one person before me. That previous owner was a pilot and kept it at his Colorado ranch. As a pilot he was thorough with maintenance and I have the paper work to support this. I have driven the truck a couple thousand miles and it has been a pleasure. It is not a new vehicle. But it is comfortable, practical, and reliable.MechanicsThe truck has been well maintained. I have the paper work for oil changes, fuel filters, plugs, fluids, and etc. The timing belt was replaced at 112k. Mitsubishi recommends changing it every 60k miles so there is another 10k until it should be replaced. All 4 tires were new before I bought the truck in December. After I purchased the truck I changed the front calipers and upgraded to the two piston calipers from a 1994 Montero. I also changed all 4 soft front brake hoses, and the rear wheel cylinders. The front idler arm was also replaced. The truck does not need anything. It does not leak, burn, or consume any fluids. Yes this is a Mitsubishi V6 that does not smoke on start up! The only issues with vehicle are that the rear defrost button sticks, and the ac does not function. The motor does have a slight tap on real cold mornings, but my previous Montero did the same thing and had over 250k on it. Also, these off-road tires are not quiet or smooth. This is an old truck that has not been restored, so it does not drive like new. But if you are expecting a well maintained older vehicle there will be no surprises. The truck will be sold with a fresh oil change. If the truck sells to a PA resident it will have new inspection and emission stickers. It will come with the roof racks.Exterior/InteriorThis truck spent most of its' life in Colorado so it did not get exposed to the salt of the east coast. It is not rust free, but is far better then most east coast Monteros. The only bad rust is behind the rear wheel on the driver's side. The underside just has surface rust as to be expected for a truck that was used on dirt roads. There are some scratches and dents. The original owner says the truck was never in an accident and from what I can tell all the paint and panels seem original and untouched. The interior is clean and, other then one rip on the driver's seat, it is in great condition.
