1965 Austin Mini 998cc classic.RHD 4spd manualin a shade of beige over black interior.Car shows 29,600 miles but this is a TMU. Gears shift nicely, clutch feels good and it presents well. I bought this in the UK last year and had it shipped over to California this year. Lots of work done by previous owner.
South African built and spent most of its life there before being imported to the UK in 2017. It has been re-shelled at some point, would guess late 70’s or early 80’s.99HG30 engine, which is a post 85’ A+ with flat top pistons.
The 998cc A+ has twin HS2’s, which need a tune up, an Alexander inlet w/ Ram airbox and stub stax, a Fletcher exhaust manifold and a SS exhaust system. Electronic ignition. Radiator, Alternator, Ignition coil, sump guard, plugs and cables all done in last couple years. Fresh oil, coolant, and filters last month. 82F thermostat and housing last week. Engine bay presents well, much cleaner than most you’ll see. Underside has been treated at some point; photos show the current condition. There is some surface rust but it'snearing 60-years old.
5x10 revolution wheels with Yokohama A032 tires, including a spare. Hi-lows, 7.5’ disc brakes, braided hoses. Previous owner said they had done the wheel bearings & rear cylinders, master cylinder, steeringrack and track rod ends in 2022. Lights work, as does the blinkers.
The cabin has been fitted with classic bucket seats, harness seatbelts and a newer carpet set which isn’t perfect but shows well enough. Electronic switch ignition and push start button, center dash console. Leather wrapped sports steering wheel and pool ball shifter knob. Headliner is in fair condition, shown in photos. No Stereo, No A/C. Driver side door regulator needs replacing, the window handle also does not work current leaving the window stuck slightly open. Missing passenger side lock surround. Small blemishes throughout the dash and cabin as expected. I would replace the driver side with passenger side if Iwere keeping it, short term.
Paintwork is a good 6ft’er job with the side ’33’ decals. It is showing its age in spots and bubbling in the usual places, as well as some surface rust spots. Window wipers functional.
No major oil leaks, new sump plug when oil change done. Has the usual classic mini drips here and there but new sump plug fixed up previous larger drips.
This isn’t concourselevel and it’s a classic that does show its age and does need some areas of work. I was planning on registering this, but I have another mid-ocean which is more of a project for my own sins, as well as several other later minis. All import paperwork, documentation etc. ready to go and factoring that into the price to title it. This is good to title in California, which is becoming rarer in the mini world.
Will post some links to vimeo for some start-up videos etc., and any other photos or videos you want send me a message. Welcome to view, drop me a message if you’d like. Ican also help arrange shipping across the US if needed.
Comes with folder of some paperwork from the UK works done also, but not too extensive.
