This advert is for a 1978 Austin mini and for a 1984 Austin mg metro.
The Austin mini was introduced to the family in 2004 and has been my pride and joy since. In 2004, it went through an extensive strip down restoration including a full sand down to bare metal and a full professional paint job, the engine was fully reconditioned and all other mechanical parts on the car where changed. The only thing that wasn’t done in the restoration was the flooring. The car was later driven and used as a show car in Malta. The original classic mini body kit was added to it, a nice and smooth scope on the hood, 14” alloys and the car was lowered by about 40mm.
The engine is a 1000 engine with the 1300-cylinder head. It is a very good engine and pulls like a train. Now, the engine needs a new fuel pump and will run as smooth as ever, the fuel got jammed since it was not in use. It has a reconditioned carburetor, done last month. The car has been garaged in an airy street level since 2012. The body is in very good condition; solid, with no rust at all except for a sprinkle of surface rust near the rear driver’s side window (as per photo).
The hard metal seen in the pictures was used to fix gaps as the body kit had cracked apart from the body. This was done by a third-party person that I had appointed to fix the problem but was stopped right away when discovered. I suggest that all the hard metal will be removed and have it fixed properly. The front floor panels will be needing changing or patching. I am also including a brand-new front flooring in the price (left & right) as I was going to change them. As seen in the photos, the car is stripped down as I started the restoration but unfortunately, I have no free time to continue. All parts are included with the car and NO parts are missing. The car only needs the front flooring, which otherwise, is a very solid car and not needing a lengthy or expensive long restoration. The car spent all its life in Malta and was always garaged when in my hands. The car has no other problems whatsoever.
The Austin metro was bought lately with the intention of restoring it as these cars are also becoming rare to find. It has a 1300 mg engine which was just serviced with several new parts. The car was still being driven every day till it was garaged this April. No problems with the engine or other mechanical parts of the car. The engine pulls as it should. The flooring of the car is very solid and the body has minimal rust as seen in the pictures. It has a few small dents around but nothing major, while the gaps where the body panels meet as well as the bumper corners were sealed by the previous owner. The interior of the car is in very good condition and the car also has central locking with remote.
They are on sale at the time being for the only reason that I have other commitments and don’t have time to continue. It will be heart breaking to see them go. The cars are in Malta. Any inspections are welcome. I can also help for transportation overseas. If more photos or videos of the cars are needed, or any other information, I will be happy to provide.
