1952 MG TD Roadster Replica Kit Car MGTD r MG T Series
Factory built in 1988 by Classic Motor Carriages in Miami FL.
Mileage isapprox. 18,000 (I still takeher out occasionally so mileage will change)
Custom built tubular steel frame, all Ford running gear, breaks, shocks etc. Engine isFord 2.3 inline 4 cylinder engine with a Weber 2 barrel carburetor & standard distributor. C4 automatic transmission and air conditioning (a/c never fully hooked up, I didn't see a need for it, but it is there if someone wants to finish it).
We've enjoyed it the last approx. 6 years doing car shows, parades and lots of country cruising.
In that time I have did all the normal maintenance, including:
New starter, alternator, brakes including most of the lines, new fuel pump, full tune up including red oversize wires, belts and hoses, all 5 tires replaced (2014), .
Then Istarted my own personalization, I added under the hood/bonnet:
Tuned header exhaust system, polished aluminum valve cover (off a turbo T'Bird), custom built brushed stainless steel radiator cover, re-painted and detailed the engine compartment in mostly red, white and chrome to match the rest of the car. Wooden box near fuse block is just for storage.
Interior: Dark red pleated marine vinyl. I redesigned & lowered the seat bases, hinged them forward with storage underneath. Narrowed and moved the back rest up and toward the rear to allow more leg room. Replaced the dated radio with a nice Pioneer stereo/cd/HDMI system, complete with custom built speaker boxes to accommodate speakers 2 in front and 2 in rear. Built a custom armrest with storage inside, covered the automatic PRNDL shifter plate with nice leather black boot. Designed, carved & made aone of a kind, wood shifter knob (with workingreverse lock out button)to match the mahogany dash & steering wheel.
Underneath are new shocks, re-did the suspension springs front and rear, replaced most of the fuel lines.
I will include a custom built tow bar that is easily attached and removed by 2 hitch pins.
Has tonneau cover, full top with boot, both side curtains and a car cover.
Includes a written appraisal for insurance purposes $18,500, which was done when I first bought her and before any updates or changes or extras.
If your looking for something with the classic styling and low maintenance cost this is it. Most all the mechanical parts are readily available at just about any auto parts store and easy to work on, no computer or electronics to muck things up. Would not be afraid to drive anywhere.
