1948 MG tC Additional Info:

This roadster has been owned by the same family since the 1970s. It drives well, and has been stored indoors.

About

It is finished in a worn yellow over red leather upholstery and powered by a 1,250cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission and dual SU carburetors. Equipment includes:

· 19″ knock-off wire wheels

· Red-finished grille slats

· Beige folding soft top

· Fold-down windshield

· Badge bar

· Driving lamp

· Fender-mounted side mirrors

· Running boards

· Removable side curtains.

The 19″ knock-off wire wheels are worn and are mounted with Firestone tires, and a matching spare is stored at the rear of the vehicle against the fuel tank. Braking is handled by hydraulic drums at each corner.

The right-hand-drive cabin is equipped with a split-bottom bench trimmed in red leather, and interior appointments include black carpets, a passenger-side grab handle, door-panel map pockets, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Jaeger white-dial instrumentation consisting of a 6,500-rpm tachometer with an inset clock as well as a 105-mph speedometer, an ammeter, and an oil-pressure gauge. The first two digits of the five-digit odometer are difficult to read, photos of which are shown in the gallery. Total mileage is unknown.

The 1,250cc inline-four features dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 54 horsepower.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

Condition

The finish is cracked and chipping. The soft top windows are hazy, corrosion is present below the finish, and rust is shown in the right door jamb.

Inspection results from August 31, 2022 by experienced classic car mechanic and condition today is unchanged:

Starts well. Runs well. Battery is good. Charging system is good. Engine is good. Belt is a little dry. Transmission and clutch are good. Brakes are good. No leaks. Temp is ok. Tachometer is notchy - kind of working - sticks a little. Other gauges work well. Rims should be re-chromed. Side panels on fuel tank need to be re-chromed. Straps on fuel tank in good condition. Seat is in good condition. Carpet should be replaced. Wood on dashboard is in good condition, but should be refinished. Interior door panels in good shape. The frame is in good shape, however some of the wood is rotted and should be replaced. Firewall looks excellent. Chrome on headlights is in good shape. Grill needs attention. Sheet metal on the exterior (as you can see from the photos) has rust and needs to be repainted. Convertible top has no tears, back window has stains, but you can see out of it. The steering wheel is in very good condition. The mileage is illegible, because one or two of the numbers are faded.
