This is the 330th MGB ever made, I only know of a couple cars earlier than this that still exist and it is likely the earliest one to be publicly offered for sale for a while.

If you want to restore an early MGB it might as well be this one, at least then your time and money go into a car that is a little more special or unusual than a regular early B.

VIN is GHN3L431, Body Number is 334. It is has lots of unique features that were only on the earliest of cars:

-No holes in the doors for the pull handle rubber buffers

-The "X" stamping under the heater

-Horizontally fluted indicator light lense (driver's side only unfortunately)

-Lower windshield frame with the seal over the top

-The never reproduced unique early shift boot.

-No sway bar

Other features like the front crossmember towing eye, chrome trim on the instrument cluster and large rear bumper filler panels are there too, although these persisted through to later pull handles also.

This is a running and driving car with a solid body. I have driven it around a bit in the neighborhood but it really needs some fine tuning and minor wrenching before regular use.

The engine is a rebuilt early 5 main. The previous owner did take the effort to save the very rare 18S prefix engine tag and reaffixed it to the 5 main block. The18S engines were the factory replacements that were installed in almost all of the very first MGBs. The car runs strong with its Weber, header, and big bore exhaust. I have some SUs that can be available because thats what the car should have.

The brakes were gone through a while back and work fine, and the car is actually pretty tight feeling going down the road. It has a 4 synchro transmission that was installed with the rebuilt engine.

Its a very solid car overall, appears to have been on the West Coast all its life. There is some bubbling on the driver's lower fender but all the floors, castle rails, etc are solid and there is no actual rot anywhere. The aluminum hood was ripped off at the hinges and will need a fair amount of work or to be replaced.

The seats in the car are atrocious and need to be tossed. The car will come with a set of early seats that have good frames.

The wheels on the car are not included, it will be sold rolling on a set of later model Rostyle wheels that have decent tires on them. A complete set of the correct early steel wheels (no tires) will also go with the car as seen inthe last picture.

The factory hardtop is something I added to the car, I wouldn't be opposed to keeping it if the buyer wants to save a few bucks but I think it suits the car.

I'm a big early MGB nerd (have had well over 100 MGBs and drive one every day). I hope someone else out there can appreciate a car this early even though it certainly isn't perfect. I think this car really deserves to be fully restored from the ground up, although you could certainly fix a few little things like the hood, seats, swap carbs, and just enjoy driving it around as a good driver. I will certainly regret selling it but I can't give it the justice it deserves any time soon.

The car has a clean California title and is currently registered. It is located in Grass Valley, CA zipcode 95945 and I am happy to show the car in person any day of the week if you are local.

I can meet with a shipper if necessary and can hold onto the car for a while until they can pick it up as long as its paid for.
