1960 MG MGA 1600 Roadster Additional Info:
For sale is a 1960 MG MGA Roadster, restored and in great driving condition! Please read the details below before bidding:
This MGA has been owned by the current owner since the late 80s. A "body off" restoration was completed from 1990-1992 which involved full body rehabilitation, frame undercoating, engine rebuilding, new interior, new chromed accoutrements, and a number of other updates. The total cost of the restoration in 1990 was $17000 (not including the purchase price of the car!).
Since that time, the car has been used for Sunday cruises and car show attendance. This vehicle won the "Peoples Choice" award at the 1992 British Car Festival in Chicago.
It has come time for the owner to sell his MGA, unfortunately he is having challenges getting in and out of the vehicle and has elected to list the car. I am related to the owner and inspected the vehicle prior to listing. My notes are as follows:
- Overall, the MGA presents in very good condition and is clean inside and out.
- The undercarriage presents some surface rust where undercoating was compromised, but the frame is rock solid and has no softness. I have added undercarriage pictures for reference.
- The engine started up quickly with no smoke on a cold start
- The left passenger door exhibits two small dents, presumably from garage storage- The left passenger door is slightly misaligned to the body, it is barely noticeable in the light, but it does not sit as well as the driver side door. The left passenger door closes and opens just fine, and the top sits on it fine, but for full transparency this should be mentioned. This appears to date back to the restoration.- The paint is a good 8/10. There are minor scuffs here and there but overall its in great shape for an over 30 year old restoration- The owner mentioned that the front brakes may need service soon - the vehicle stops fine and the rear brakes were recently serviced.- This is a 4-speed non synchronized transmission. It is important to know how to drive one before buying. This is common for classic British cars.- The restored interior presents very well, with an original rare Motorola transistor radio and superb details. The vehicle is also equipped with an 8-track tape player. The interior seats are all leather and seat belts have been added.- The owner advises that everything on the car is stock, and that he did not want anything on the car that MG did not originally include.
The auction also includes an unrestored tow dolly (seen in the last picture). The owners goal was to paint it to match the vehicle and take it to car shows, but that is no longer an option.
Please note that this is a classic automobile, and as such, is sold as-is, where-is. Please contact me with any questions before bidding. Seller reserves the right to validate identity and FULL BANK clearance of funds for low feedback bidders. Scams will not be tolerated. Thank you for looking at this piece of automotive history!
