Vehicle Details

Very cool period MD TD Mk2. Its not pristine but it is still a very unique time capsule that epitomizes 50s California car culture.

This car was last on the road in 1958/1959 and while the 9400 miles on the odometer may not be entirely accurate, I do believe it to be a very low mileage car. There is no way that it rolled over in just 6 to 7 years of its life. It was in the same family its whole life until this year and has always been garaged in the greater Sacramento area. The owner in the 50s obviously took pride in the car and did the classic 50s "playboy" more show than go modifications like the 2 tone paint, white walls, spare tire cover, etc.

It is a matching numbers Mk11 complete with the H4 carbs, bonnet bulge, Andrex shocks, dual fuel pumps, etc. The engine is stuck unfortunately. It is a very complete car, down to the crank handle. I believe the 2 rear side curtains, the air cleaner, and the distributor are the only major components missing. All the gauges down to the clock are intact and don't even have any fading on the faces. It was always stored indoors for decades.

The body has some dents and shows its age but is really incredible. The doors open and close better than almost all restored T series cars. There is zero wood rot in any of the timbers or even in the original floors. There is zero rust in any of the panels, look at the battery box even, not even a pinhole or pitting... Was originally a red on red car, the black and yellow is the only repaint it had. The grille/radiator and the bonnet are loosely laid in place to keep everything together in storage.

This is a neat period find, a largely unmessed with original car once you get past the obvious paint change, and a Mk2 at that. I planned on getting it back on the road as a survivor with "patina" but I don't have room for it (it is stored at a friend's for now) and it needs to find a new home. Comes with some of its original registration slips from the 50's as well as its original workshop manual.

It has a clean modern CA title on non-op, rolls easily, and I am happy to meet with a shipper if that is necessary to get the car picked up. Please feel free to give me a call at 704-877-856six if you have any questions. Thanks!
