1947 MG T-Series Additional Info:
This is an older restoration of a 1947 MG TC roadster that is an excellent driving example that's ready for local shows. This is a rare matching numbers car from the first year of the TC, with an early chassis number under 2000. This MG benefited from a complete restoration in 1976 by Jack Deren from Pennsylvania, including a complete engine overhaul. By 2006 it had been refurbished by the New England Classic Car Company, including a new set of lightweight alloy brake drums and a beautiful detailing of the engine bay and the chassis/suspension. The car is an English import (not built for the U.S.) as it has the original U shaped 8 headlight lenses and the original 30 mph warning light on the dash which are unique to the British version. We love the classic look of the Racing Green exterior paint complimented with the chrome wire wheels with knock off hubs. The paint is in overall nice condition with some lacquer cracking occurrin, but mainly noticeable on the passengers side front fender. It is not seen from a few feet away. The Haartz cloth canvas top, top boot and side curtains look stunning with the Racing Green paint. While the top is new, the side curtains and top boot show average wear and are in good condition. The chrome is in overall good condition with the normal scratches from use. The front has a badge bar and a couple of badges as well as a fog light and a horn mounted. The interior is also very nice, with its soft and supple biscuit leather seating and door panels. The black carpeting is newer as well and is in good condition. The new wood dash is also in nice condition with all the instruments operating as they should. Mechanically, this MG needs nothing to be enjoyed. It has an excellent running engine that pulls strong and doesn't emit smoke and it shifts well through the gearbox. There are no unwanted driveline noises and it looks great on a lift with its rust and damage free chassis that has been nicely painted and detailed underneath. The MG has benefited from the installation of a new fabric covered wiring harness with all working instruments and lights. Recent mechanical service includes the installation of a new fuel pump, master cylinder, rear slave cylinder, and new carburetors. We have this MG priced fairly between the Hagerty Price Guide No. 2 and No. 3 value, which fits perfectly with this offering. This MG is ready for viewing at our Phoenix showroom and comes with a nice collection of books related to the car.
