This 1979 MG B is the epitome of a sports car. Low to the ground, agile and compact, it's the very image your mind is likely to conjure up when you think of the term. It's running strong, is a blast to drive and sits on a very solid foundation that, with a little TLC to the aesthetics, will afford its next owner the opportunity to acquire a fine-looking British classic at a good price. The... blue exterior is a very fitting match for the car and while if you were to take to the road with the car as is - you certainly wouldn't get any disapproving glances - some attention given to the paint will take things to the next level. Should you decide to make a journey to the paint shop, its work will be installed over a foundation that otherwise looks to be in solid shape, showing no evidence of any serious mishaps - this is a pretty strong looking import considering it's yet to have received any serious restoration efforts. The black bumpers in both front and back still sit nice and level below still respectably clear headlights and taillights and there aren't any serious dings on the long stretches of chrome running the length of the sides, nor any of the other exterior fittings. When the skies darken, the black convertible top is ready to rise up as protection, still fitting well and featuring a clear plastic window in back. The vinyl interior is looking downright strong. MGs offered more room for both driver and passenger than most of their similarly sized counterparts from the time they were first released and you'll find that there's a surprising amount of space on hand here. Redone with beige seat covers that mirror the MG's original factory look, the buckets have plenty of life left in them and still retain their proper shape as they straddle a center console that looks surprisingly fresh. The black dash area has weathered the years well and still sports an assortment of original gauges in its cluster that are easily readable and function as intended, with a slight crack on one of the lenses - easily remedied - being the only obvious blemish you'll find. At the center you'll find an AM/FM/Cassette stereo to provide a fitting, era appropriate audio experience and, in contrast to so many units from the era, this one actually works well. The dash pad above doesn't show any fading, cracks or warping and if you take a glance from side to side, you'll see that all the dash components are present and accounted for. The 1798cc 4-cylinder under the hood sits in a very clean engine compartment - it looks like it was recently steam cleaned - with the blue inner fenders providing a nice contrast to the engine with its fresh-looking black valve cover. The engine compartment appears to be in good order, with a collection of properly routed wires and hoses surrounding the engine, which itself is in good shape and fires right up when called upon. A K&N air filter and just a couple of additional aftermarket components are the only exceptions to the factory configuration inside. This MG B is an undeniable blast to drive - the model delivered consistently strong skidpad performances throughout the '70s to serve as testimony to its handling ability. Front disc brakes bring this light, agile ride to a quick stop as it rides on its 14" stock wheels outfitted with Dunlop SP60 tires. This 1979 MG B offers the opportunity to put an iconic British classic in your garage at a very attainable price. Call today!
