"The First of a New Line" - That was the marketing approach for MG as it rolled out its fresh MGA to the public in 1955. These cars were vastly different from any MG prior. The "A" featured a wider chassis, lower seating position, a more "B-Series" motor, independent suspension and rack and pinion steering. The body was much cleaner in design sitting lower and wider with beautiful consistent bodylines and a teethy front grill. Just out a private collection,... GR Auto Gallery is thrilled to bring to market, this most elegant, 1960 MGA Roadster. This car has been passionately cared for by its last owner for the last 15 or so years and mechanically looked after by MG Guru John Twist of University Motors. The car is finished in Old English white with biscuit interior with tan cloth soft top. The car was restored well over 25 years ago and still shows excellent. In 2013, this MGA went through a complete mechanical restoration again, at the hands of John Twist of University Motors. The 1600cc engine was completely rebuilt and warmed up to 1800cc and to 9.5:1 compression, the transmission was fully rebuilt and the suspension and brakes serviced accordingly. This is hands down, the best driving MGA that we have had grace the floor of the GR Auto Gallery. The throttle response is very snappy, it pulls strong through all the gears, the exhaust note sings a medley of all mechanical components working together in harmony, the transmission shifts perfectly, and the suspension, also completely rebuilt, is tight as the car provides excellent handling capabilities. Highlights included: dual carbs, wire wheels, luggage rack, wood steering wheel, excellent chrome and bright work, excellent original underside, tonneau cover, tool roll with knock off hammer, Jack and an outstanding core and structure. Documentation includes the British Heritage Trust Certificate, a mountain of service receipts documenting the engine rebuilt and all other services pertaining to the mechanical restoration, drivers hand book, a ton of research material etc. The MGA is a drivers car, and one sorted to the level is a perfect car to do some long distance touring, as well as keep for investment. No wrong decision here.
