1977 MG MGB Additional Info:
This is a 1977 MGB with 36,153 original miles and No Reserve. I towed it from a workshop in Longview, WA where it has sat since 1998.
It was a stalled restoration project and over the past few months I've put it all back together. You'll appreciate it having all its parts and pieces intact, and any missing items were pulled from a parts car to keep it authentic. It runs and drives but is being sold as-is and recommend you put the time into bringing this 40 plus year old car back to original British standards.
Brief Description:
Body is Brookland Green and shows signs of a paint job done in the 90's. Overall good condition that needed some overspray cleaned up and a good polishing. I've left it in original condition with a few nicks and the pin striping wearing thin in places. This makes a nice patina showing the age and durability of the vehicle. Some surface rust on the car and the typical bubbles starting to show in the seam tops of the fenders. If you wanted to color sand it I'm sure it would bring back a beautiful luster.
Most all of the interior is complete and seats and door panels are original. Carpet kit is brand new, dashboard is in perfect condition. Vinyl top is in good condition with one pin hole and some distress shown on the outside. Most of the electrical is working to include lights, radio, defroster, and wipers. The turn signal switch was replaced by the previous owner but needs some sorting out or perhaps the blinker unit it self needs replacing. Gauges seem to work although the tachometer can sometimes go null and then arrive back. Trunk has a carpet liner, full spare tire, jack, lug wrench and a tonneau cover.
Engine, trans and suspension are original and in good shape. She runs strong and starts easily. Right now there is a miss while idling and I think it's running too rich. All fluids were replaced along with new plugs, wires, brake lines, rear brake cylinders and the clutch slave cylinder. Cooling fans work but on these cars they are tempermental and those not familiar with MGs may want to change the temperature sensor or run them manually. This engine has the two barrel Weber carburetor and upgraded electronic ignition. Brakes are good. Tires and wheels are good, but again the tires are from the 90s. Battery is new with a float charger included.
Please take a look at the photos. If you know how hard it is to find these cars complete in running condition then you'll appreciate this low mileage beauty. I have been driving the car back and forth to the store to make sure it's reliable (tags are expired as you can see), but I want to be clear the car is 40 plus years old and work needs to be done to make it reliable and looked over for any repairs needed.
This is not yet a daily driver, it's a survivor that is a great car to bring back to original glory. A friend of mine said when buying a classic car, always go for two out of three: Engine, interior, body. I would share the Interior and the Body are very good on this car and a safe investment.
The engine and drivetrain are obviously good from a very, very low mileage point of view, but this is the area that you should spend some time and really make sure everything works reliably and you sort out detail areas that go awry on 40 year old British classic cars.
These are great cars manufactured from 1962 to 1980 that are going up in value. I've seen several cars in this same condition sell for above the $5,000 level. This is a good opportunity to own an original, low miles MGB with no reserve.
