1978 MG MGB -- Additional Info:

If you were to poll car enthusiasts as to which make and model exemplified the term "sports car," you'd no doubt find a sizable legion of respondents citing this very car. This 1978 MG MGB is all about top-down, nimble handling fun and a thorough restoration has left this classic with a great looking color combo and a strong running condition. Its compact, low slung form is instantly recognizable - no real surprise since the MGB has been featured in... movies and television both domestically and internationally for decades. It's a classic, timeless look that proved so effective for its manufacturer that it was left largely unchanged over the time the MGB was offered, as MG chose to focus instead on more subtle refinements. Clad in sharp-looking black paint, this is one capable looking corner carver. Giving it a very sleek look, the original rubber bumpers have been removed, and in front replaced with a pair of prominent fog lights and a fresh chrome grill on display. You can picture this British classic coming out of a canyon turn under perfect control. Draw a little closer and you'll see a number of other welcome details - its clear headlights, as well as all other lighting in front and back - are surrounded by blemish free casings, the long stretches of trim running its sides sit nice and flush and the chrome trunk rack on the deck lid is a great added touch. This MG has emerged from its dutiful service over the decades still looking straight and true, and its doors open and shut without incident. A cloth convertible top stands by under its boot to protect you from inclement weather, in good condition and ready to raise into position. MG first got a foothold in the U.S. market partially by virtue of their ability to offer a compact sports car whose interior afforded more room than most of its counterparts, and this MGB actually took that spaciousness a little further than even its immediate predecessors, so things are surprisingly comfortable inside. The pair of red leather buckets inside are well-padded and comfortable, as well as being properly proportioned for full-fledged adults, and they're flanked by door panels that have a fresh look from their restoration. The dash area is in very good order and the factory gauges inside its textured black cluster sit behind clear lenses. The deck lid is well secured by a new-looking, strut-type lift and you'll find a full size spare sitting in the trunk, along with a modern JVC AM/FM/CD player and speakers that can easily be installed should you so choose. This British classic is ready to hit the road as soon as you get it home. An 1800cc inline 4-cylinder sits underneath the hood in a very tidy engine compartment, sporting a chrome valve cover and a chrome air cleaner over its carb and sharing space with a collection of clean components inside. A turn of the key will confirm its road readiness - it fires right up and runs very smoothly - and it's paired with a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive activated by a switch mounted on the gear shift knob to reduce RPMs at highway speeds. It's a fairly rare feature only a small percentage of MGBs were equipped with. Precise rack and pinion steering gives this sports car its agility and power brakes at all four corners - with discs in front - bring this to a stop quickly. This quintessential roadster cruises the highway on a set of 15" stock rims outfitted with Bridgestone Potenza tires. This 1978 MG MGB presents a look admired for decades and greets the present ready to provide miles and miles of motoring enjoyment. Call today!
