Hello and thank you for viewing my auction. I am selling my 1971 MGB roadster. I had been looking for an MGB of this vintage for quite a while and purchased this one from the original owner in July of this year. I am very pleased with it and it’s a great little car. It is a standard 4 cylinder with a 4 speed with electronic overdrive. Unfortunately because of health reasons I am now selling it.
It has always been pampered, garage kept and well maintained and is mostly original. Although it started life on the East Coast the original owner never drove it in bad weather. He then moved here to New Mexico in the mid-80s and it has always been garage kept under a cover. There is no rust. The floors are solid and all the door jams and trunk are dry and clean. The original owner kept impeccable records and I have a file with every receipt since new. I also have a detailed list of all the money he spent on the car since new, including things like oil, gas additives and even traffic violations!
It is the original color “Bronze Yellow”. The paint is in great shape and appears to be mostly original, although it seems there may have been some minor body repairs, but the paint color all matches perfectly. There are a few minor scrapes and chips. The interior is in great shape with no rips in the seats and only one small split in the driver side door panel. The dash is in nice shape with only one crack. All the gauges are in good shape and work, however there is some kind of loose connection, so they work intermittently. It was a radio delete car from the factory and I have the delete plate. At some point he added an aftermarket radio that then got stolen.
The top is a correct replacement and in like new condition. It also comes with two correct top boots and an original slightly worn factory tonneau cover. It has all five original wire wheels, plus one extra new tire.
The car runs and drives great. Steering is tight and the trans shifts tight and the electronic overdrive functions perfectly. All the lights and blinkers work. Brakes are good and solid. The only small problem I am having iswith thealternator. It is working, but seems weak and is putting out a minimal amount of voltage. So itmay need to be repaired or replaced.
Included in the sale are several boxes of extra parts, including a good used OEM starter, bearings, trim and interior parts. This car is a very presentable survivor and in much better than driver condition, I think with a good deep professional detail it would be stunning. I encourage you to come look at the car in person and am happy to answer any questions.
