1949 Mercury Eight Additional Info:

A rare piece of history, this classic 1949 Mercury Eight Coupe is styled in hot rod satin black, with beautiful white interior and white wall red stripe wheels that really pop. Lowered in true hot rod, “lead sled”, James Dean fashion. Professional mechanic owner, garage kept and used as a weekend cruiser/Sunday driver with very Light use, only a few hundred miles annually for the last several years. This beautiful car is an eye catcher, it has the iconic flat head V8 engine that idles silky smooth, but growls like a tiger when you rev it. The “3 on the tree” transmission and clutch function superbly. It is simply a joy to drive. The odometer does work and shows 12,508 miles, but not sure if it has ever rolled over as older cars did not register over 100k miles on the odometer. Over $10k in recent Upgrades including 4 wheel disc braking system and all wiring converted from 6 volt to 12 volt, as well as a new period correct looking Bluetooth stereo and speaker that sounds great playing that old time rock and roll. It also has authentic 1949 front and rear Illinois plates, giving it that authentic Chicago gangster look. Please inspect pictures closely as there are a few scratches in the paint, so if you want to restore to full showroom glory, a new paint job would be advised. Passenger door is not opening from outside but is currently being repaired as well as new passenger windshield and seal being installed, both before final sale. We have lowered the price accordingly to reflect. There are a few extra parts included such as the original radio, original external sun visor, and James Dean Poster (pictured). Bid with confidence as I have a 100% seller rating. feel free to message with any questions. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
