1972 Mercury Cougar 351C Hurst 4 speed convertible Triple Black

For grabs is my cougar. This car is an excellent driver. I’ve done a thousand miles this month in hot southern CA weather trouble free. It has many cosmetic imperfections but it’s black on black and runs and drives beautifully. Banging the gears and cruising in it just sounds incredible. ITS RUST FREE. I’m very fond of this car and so is anyone that drives or rides in it.

Pros:

~rebuild on 351C motor under PO, HV oil pump, std rebuild, heads rebuilt, aluminum dual plane manifold, new edelbrock 650 carb, all new ignition components etc, aluminum radiator, etc…

~Fresh clutch

~new engine gaskets & no leaks! Runs like a top

~ gauges work even factory tachometer and fuel gauges.

~ 4 speed manual gearbox shifts very smooth!

~ no weird noises or smells

~ power steering car that stops on a dime too!

~ convertible power top operates smoothly

~ does 75mph all day long on the freeway

~ full size ford 9 rear end

~ staggered set of 17/18” American racing rims with Pirelli tires

~ CALIFORNIA CAR (NO RUST AT ALL)

~ great factory black interior with surround speakers and a modern Bluetooth radio!

~ vintage HURST shifter setup, banging gears rocks.

~ it’s fast, sounds great, runs cool, no leaks and needs nothing to enjoy as it sits. I’d drive this car anywhere without hesitation.

where else will you find a triple black 4 speed cougar with a drop top? This car is COOL.

Cons:

~Paint and bodywork is very amateur and looks best from a distance. This is a driver NOT for show.

~ passenger seat has had some minor vinyl repair. Drivers seat and rears are immaculate. Dash is perfect shape.

~ power top works fine but has two very small tears on outside layer, still watertight. (pictured)

~ all of the glass is great but there’s a scratch from wiper on windshield (pictured)

Light blue color shows in jambs… the factory center console is included if the buyer would like to reinstall. I liked without.
