1951 Mercury Monarch Additional Info:
If you are in the market for a very desirable and hard to find old body Mercury, this is the car for you. I purchased the 51 Merc from a widow, who's husband had passed away several years ago. She had the car parked in her garage for three years because she didn't want to part with his pride and joy. The car is very drivable. It starts up at the touch of a button, idles like glass and drives straight down the road at 70 miles per hour. I have receipts for thousands of dollars in repairs that were made, as well as the receipt for $2600.00 to install Nostalgia air condtioning (which blows ice cold). This old Mercury draws a crowd every place I take it. According to the previous owner, the miles are actual at 86,602. Based on the condition of the car, I would not dispute her claim. In as much as the car is 68 years old, I am selling it miles exempt. It has full fender skirts, dummy spot lites and dummy side exhaust. Everything in the car works, including turn signals, stop lites, brake lites, horn and guages. Car is equipped with its original 255 cubic inch flathead V-8, along with a three speed column shifter with overdrive. Clutch is perfect, no chatter or slip, brakes are excellent and you can drive the car anywhere. There are no rattles, shimmy's, squeeks or noises and there are absolutely no mechanical issues needing attention. If you want to buy a piece of history that you can enjoy right now, without having to spend a ton of money, take a look at this car. I always try to describe what I sell on Ebay as accurately as possible, so I want to let you know about the only issues I have found since owning the car. Gasoline got under the paint just below the gas filler door and caused a small paint blemish (easily repaired, see photo) and there is a bit of play in the steering, but doesn't really affect the drive when out on the road. I drive the car quite often and its not something I would even repair. I have found no evidence of damage repairs, or rust issues any place on the vehicle. This is a northern California, warm weather, rust free Mercury. If you have any questions regarding the car, please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to answer them as quickly as possible. Please do not contact me asking the reserve price. I believe in the auction process and I will not disclose it.
