1970 Mercury Montego Additional Info:
Hello. I have 680 Positive feedback here (100%) for a reason, I always do my best to document anything that needs attention or repair, I will include a detailed list of every flaw I'm aware of in this description.
I am the 2nd owner of this Cyclone. It was purchased in 1970, right here in my hometown. The owner drove it regularly until 5 years ago, then for 4 years it was "started every week, so the battery wouldn't die", and then "the starter went bad, so it sat for a full year".
Then I purchased it. I had it towed on a flat-bed to my driveway, and I did the following. Pulled the plugs, sprayed fogging oil into the cylinders. Installed new plugs. Changed the oil to synthetic. Put in a new battery, new starter and solenoid. Siphoned the tank, and put in premium. And sure enough... the new starter wasn't engaging. Shoved my phone into the hole for a pic and of course the flywheel is missing a tooth. I put a 15/16 deep socket on the breaker bar, and turned the crank clockwise and it started right up.
So, yes, it runs! Could use a full tune-up and timing done, but runs just fine.

I always do my best to document anything that needs attention or repair. That being said, here is a list of everything I know of on this Cyclone that needs something.
Needs new flywheel (see pic)
4"x5" spot at the bottom forward of passenger door needs grind / sheet metal tack. (see pic)
Same spot on driver door needs similar repair, but hasn't breached the paint yet.
Horn not working
Dash needs repair (see pic)
Headliner needs replacing (see pic)
Small rip in corner of driver seat (see pic)
Weatherstrip between driver window / back passenger window needs replacing (see pic)
Center console lid needs to be re-attached
Runs fine, but needs a full tune-up
Occasional oil drip
Needs new paint, and light grinding on a few spots around the body and door.
And primer on the fresh sanded rear spot **(see pic)** -- I sanded that to the metal on a hunch that there was body filler there, I was wrong. I'd primer it, but then the buyer would also wonder what was under there. Lightly hit it with 220 and seal it. No harm no foul.
I do have the trim for the passenger side, and it will be included with the car. Also, the rear view mirror is detached but included. I will also include the 15/16th Deep socket, and the 25" breaker bar just in case you need to advance the flywheel via the crank to start it.
Also, the buyers guide and servicing schedule are included. As well as the original plates (front and rear). The car is currently registered until 2020.
I will make this car available for your inspection in person throughout the auction. Also, I will work with whatever tow company you contract for shipping. Ask questions, and there is a YouTube video of it running and demonstration of the louvered lights by searching "1970 Mercury Cyclone GT Parkside", if you aren't able to find it message me for a direct link.
$1000. deposit from the buyer within 24 hours, and balance in full within 7 business days. Thank you.
