1942 Mercury Series 29A 4DR Sedan Additional Info:
Selling my beautiful 1942 Mercury with suicide doors. It is a very dependable car with a great running engine. The suspension has been redonewith tube shocks and a recent brake job. It has been converted to a 12 volt system and it has an alternator with electronic ignition and a Flamethrower coil. I have a set of Firestone bias ply tires I don't use as it is now equipped with new radials. It has a radio that doesn't play, and the upholstery is in excellent condition. It does not overheat under normal driving, and I have driven it on 500 mile drives without a bit of problem. The transmission shifts beautifully but it has an occasional noise that may be the throw out bearing which is odd because I had the transmission and clutch overhauled. This is a fantastic show and parade car that can be taken on trips. The paint is old but I try to keep it polished and waxed. It has no noticeable rust or rot. It is currently stored in a warehouse. I am selling it because I now own too many cars to drive by myself, and they should be driven. The 1942 Mercury is a rare and very collectible car because it was only built for half of 1942 because of WWII. The next model did not come out until 1946. The grille is very identifiable as a '42 because it was patterned after the grille on the lincolns of that era.
