A minty green 1954 Mercury Monterey with serious personality, V8 power, and low miles. This is a truly distinct cruising classic, and the value price is the cherry on top of this Sunday driver. The first-generation Montereys really had a terrific premium style. You paid extra for a Mercury, and so these upper-level Monterey coupes showcased it with their hardtop profile. You see it so well on this example, because the two-tone green is a great way to add distinction... while still looking 1950s-correct. And more than just the paint, this one has an overall great sense of original style. You especially see this in the brightwork with the full-length sweeping side trim that has the Mercury crest imbedded in the front, and the hood ornament that's integrated into the hood. Plus, the front bumper is an artful design, and we love how the Mercury name is embedded in the rear one. Even the details are great with the spotlights, whitewall tires, and rear fender skirts. And so this already wows you even before you realize it has only averaged about 1,040 miles annually over its lifetime. While we know you loved the minty green on the exterior, when you open the door, you'll really start to take notice of the deeper green on the roof. That's because it's also used on the door panels and dash to create a terrific full uniform appearance. After all, the '50s were all about well-coordinated colors. This has the right period-correct premium feeling with comfortable cloth seats and plenty of room for the family. But in these Mercurys the driver really was the king. That's why you not only got the artful steering wheel and long speedometer, but also the space between those houses all the essential controls. That left more room for a clean and comfortable dash that has everything from the original clock to the AM radio that are all still on display to enjoy the '50s atmosphere. When you lift the hood, the first thing you'll notice is that the valve covers and air topper have been painted the same green as the exterior. So it looks great against the dark engine bay. But those who know these Mercurys will also be excited that this is a '54, because this was the debut of Ford's new V8. This 256 cubic-inch displacement was only available in 1954, and this one is also topped by the correct Holley four-barrel downdraft carburetor. So this motor is not only a great one to talk about, but it's a great powerhouse for driving. It makes a nice sound out of the glasspack dual exhaust, and you have the added control of the classic column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. Add in power steering and power brakes, and this is a terrific period-correct cruiser. Highly original, low mileage, and quite smooth on the road - this distinct Monterey is everything you want in a classic, and it's offered today at a fantastic price. Don't miss this deal, call today!
