1968 Mercury Cougar Additional Info:
Hi Guys, Rich at The Mustang Ranch here in Golden, Colorado. I havemy clients1968 Mercury Cougar XR7 #8F93S579482 for sale. Third owner New Mexico/ Colorado 65,000 milecar all of its life. She started out as anS code 390 big block, AC, Power steering, Power disc brake, 9 inch rear end car. At some point the 390 gave out and now has a 347 stroker full drag race motor. The 302 block was boiled, shot pinned, sonic/ pressertested, line bored, resurfaced, bored and fitted with new cam bearings/ freeze plugs. Venolia 13:1 pistons, Grp pro street aluminum race rods, Cola crank, fully grooved main bearings, rod bearings, Milodon gear drive, Hp oil pump, Street damper harmonic balancer, new flex plate and completely balanced lower end. Full roller race cam, Harland Sharp roller rockers/ lifters, push rods, springs, locks, retainers, stud girdle and Ferrea valves. Trick flow twisted wedge Aluminumheads, intake/ exhaustported/ polished, port matched to a Victor JR intake/ massaged runners, Motorsport valve covers, MSD ignition, ARP bolt set, Holley 750 carb, new alt/ starter/ water pump,Hedman full length tuned race headers and2 1/2 Flowmaster exhaust. The rebuiltperformanceC-4 automatic transmissionhas a shift kit an a stall converter. The drive shaft was rebuilt and balanced by Denver drive train and the car has a drive shaft loop. The 9 inch rear end has a spool and 4:11 gears. Just to let you know there are no signs of collision or any thing that for a lack of a better word, has been"Hacked on". Original quarters, fenders, doors, hood, engine bay sheet metal, torque boxes, frame rails and floor pans. As you will see in the video she does have some slight rust in the lower door corners and lower quarter panels but nothing catastrophic. It looks like one repaint about 15 years ago with the occasional nicks, scratches and chips. The owner has placed those bullet whole stickers on some of the chips, lol.All the glass/ trim is in fair condition. The black vinal top was just replaced and the seats/ head liner were also done a number of years ago. The headlights work but you will need to add a vacuum motor to assist in opening the headlight doors and assist the power brakes. The radical motor does not make enough vacuum at an idol. Wipers work but the turn signals, radio andheater fan will need attention. Fuel gauge, temp, oil pressure, tach, speedometer and amp meter all work. I just recently installed the motor and got this Cougarrunning. It only has about an hour break in time and a quick run around the neighborhood. This is aNOISIE RADICAL running Cougar! I wish it was going to be around for the rest of the break in and to see it go down the 1/4 mile but it wont. This motor is built strong enough for Alcohol and should be tuned/ dynoed in your area before putting into service. There is well over $18,000 invested in the motor/ trans parts and labor alone and not to mention the value of the car. You cannot build what is here for what it will sell for. Also for the right price the new Alcohol 950 double pumper Holley/ Fuel pump/ regulators, tires/ wheels and dash can be yours. Please call and ask as many questions that you like. There is no guarantee or warranty on this Mercury Monster. Best regards, Rich at The Mustang Ranch 303-931-5412Be sure to check out either one of these YOUTUBE VIDEOS!!!
