1949 Mercury Other Additional Info:
Hello, we are offering our super rare, unmolested, unchopped, mostly original 1949 Mercury 8 coupe. I have driven this car many, many miles and has never given me any issues. You will have a hard time finding another classic Mercury like this one for sale. Fact is, I haven't seen another 1949 Mercury, 2 door coupe in the area where I live. This particular one is a very collectible car and these cars will only continue to go up in value. If you know about these, then for those of you, I am speaking to the choir. This is the opportunity of a lifetime.
This 1949 Mercury is a 2 door coupe with 90k original miles. Interior is in excellent condition as is the exterior. It could use a buff job on the paint, but is definitely show condition, as is. The car has the original 1949 Mercury Flathead motor, 3 speed on the tree transmission with Overdrive, and it sounds amazing.....just like flatheads do. It is stored in a temperature controlled garage and is connected to a battery tender when not in use.
Yes, it is still 6 Volt nostalgia! It is a Montana and Idaho owned car, so there is NO RUST anywhere on this car. The car originally was Maroon, however, the black color that it is now was painted over 20 years ago. I just recently put new wheels and tires on this car, Coker Wide Whites with smoothy steel wheels and 1957 Cadillac Hubcaps. All the trim is in perfect condition, bumpers, grille and bright work are also in perfect condition. There is an aftermarket electronic fuel pump which takes care of commonly known vapor lock issues and has been flawless as such. I have taken this car to a few shows and the response has always been great, mostly of childhood memories, how rare the car is and how iconic these years of Mercury's are. It does come with the fender skirts and a cover. Also, the car has been lowered 2 inches on blocks, so for those of you that are purists, it is easy to reverse this back to original. The original radio hums, but does not play music, I didn't really care about the radio, so it could just be speakers. Also, very recently, the fuel gauge stopped working, probably the sending unit. Everything else functions as it should. There are no dents. Like I said, this car is very presentable, not to mention it runs and drives like a dream.
Feel free to ask if you have any other questions. She is breathtaking. We are offering this car at a great value. Someone will be really lucky to end up with it. Also, you can buy with confidence, just check out my 100% rating. Thanks for looking and good luck!!
