VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:

Ever spent an afternoon driving a classy, intage Mercedes Benz? What a treat! Smooth is the word for sure. Smooth powerful acceleration. Smooth handling in the curves or on the highway. Comfort, tyling, nd versatility all in one gorgeous ride. For my money, n SL of any variant is one of the best values for the overall driving experience that a vintage Benz has to offer. Look over my photos and I’m sure you’ll agree. What you’re viewing here is the result of a wash and vacuum only! I know you’ll admire this SL’s overall provenance. The local owner that passed it along to us kept it garaged for most of the past ten years of his ownership. Rust? Please, his Mercedes HATES rust and you won’t find anything here to cause you great concern! Yes, he Puget Sound area is famous for rain, ut our winter roads are never salted. At the sign of the first snowflake everyone panics and just stays home, o this car hasn’t seen much in the way of metal-eating chemicals or road salt and was factory undercoated. Having owned dozens of Daimler vehicles over three decades, ’ve developed a great appreciation for their style, echanical reliability and the overall driving experience.

CONDITION:

In total, his is a clean, moke-free Mercedes. I take pride in the vehicles we sell and feel that you should know as much about them as possible. Accordingly, ere is a list of the good and also a few small things needing attention: Hop in; fire up the strong V-8 and it starts immediately – even when cold! The owner verified to us that a dual timing chain system had beeninstalled several years ago. The automatic transmission shifts through the gears as expected. The car idles, uns and drives as I feel it should – immediate, trong oil pressure, trong battery and charging system, efinitely better than most 32 year-old vehicles! On the interior the MB Vinyl-Tex bucket seats are in well-above average condition with no tears. The paint has had one respray to the factory color in the past and is decent, ut aged. I’dsuggest having it done again sometime in the next few years to really make the car stand out! About the only other flaws I’ve encountered are: a section of carpet beneath the passenger seat is gone, ut isn’t really noticeable because the seat covers that entire area; the A/C doesn’t blow cold (although the system has been upgraded to use modern R134A refrigerant); the odometer is not advancing (the speedometer and other gauges work fine). As pictured, he fabric soft top has some wear but could be easily be patched in the two areas needed and would be quite serviceable. All four alloy wheels are wrapped with good Michelin touring radials with each having at least 60-70% remaining tread. Overall, feel this is a nice,roadworthy car.

Even though there is a VERY low reserve on the Mercedes relative to the other SL's offered here, he amount of money involved in buying a vehicle is significant. A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s conclusion.
