1988 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Additional Info:
Petrol Green exterior with Creme Beige interior. Color matched hardtop with dark brown softtop. 83k+ miles, Louisiana car until 2012. A strong # 3 car, excellent driver, starts every time and runs like a top.

What it still needs to be a solid #2:-Paint is a 10 footer and appears to be original. There are some deep scratches near the back of the hard tonneau where it appears that the previous owner struggled with attaching the hard top.
Paint clear coat is extremely shiny but upon close inspection there are alot of hair line scratches that need to be wet sanded out, there are a few nicks and scratches throughout the rest of the body that need attention
-Heating/Cooling controller is not functioning, have not investigated
-MB-Tex seats are showing age with fine cracks that hold dirt; they are structurally sound but could stand to be deep cleaned. I bought the sheepskins because they keep you warm and cool.
-Odometer stopped working when I reinstalled the gauge pod after rebuilding the steering box, not sure if something was not connected or if something broke. Rebuild kits are pretty cheap.-Discoloration on bottom windshield trim strip. Not pitted or oxidized, but looks like hard water staining. I have had no luck rubbing it out.-Small 1 in crack on dash. Can be repaired and is hardly noticeable- Wheels were rattle-can sprayed silver. I have purchased a Mercedes Wheel refinishing kit.
Extra parts that go with:
New dashboard wood strips not yet installed
2 custom car covers (one light duty, one heavy duty)
Wind screen (not in the best shape but functional)Battery tender
New precut vinyl for door pockets and for roadster boot
New stainless bumper covers and a very nice used windshield header trim stripNew bushings for convertible top receivers on windshield header
Complete seat heater kit (wiring loom, connectors, relays, switches and bottom and back heater elements) from 80's E-class (w126) that I was going to install when I got new seat coversMercedes Silver wheel refinishing kitTouch-up paint kit (spray and brush on)
This car has one of the most eye catching color combinations. No matter where I go I get positive comments from people... I can't stop for gas or coffee without someone coming over to talk (which is part of the joy of owning a classic car). When it is clean and the sun is shining it is like a jewel.
Hagerty prices are going up on these old chrome bumper classic roadsters. When I first purchased it we had a mutually agreed insurance policy of $14,500, now it $21,000.
Based on its condition, the amount of work already performed, historical price realizations and the Hagerty value chart I believe I am asking a very fair price for this particular car. I have a lot more money in this car than I am asking for, as is true with any classic car. I am not expecting to get my money back but I will not sell for less than its real value.
Vehicle is sold As Is/ Where Is with no implied warranty. I encourage and willaccommodatea pre-purchaseinspection. Car is located about 35 miles northwest of Chicago. I will also assist to the best of my ability in transportation (at buyers expense).
