Here is my 1986 Mercedes 560 SEL 097702 original miles with the factory gold trim. Built in Dec 2005. This is the first year of the 560 SEL. I am the third owner. I bought the car in 2010 from the original owner’s granddaughter. She sold the car as part of her grandfather’s estate sale. She drove it from Emerald Bay California, where her Grandfather lived, to her home in Phoenix AZ. At the time I lived in Phoenix and that is how I found this car.
This car comes with original rear footrest, all factory manual, the original keys and their original Mercedes leather protectors. This car come with its original Mercedes roadside tool kit.
The tires are good. I bought five, 60,000 mile Michelin Primacy tires with Certificates from Discount tires for $812.799, back when the car had 64, 274 miles on it. I have put 40,000 miles on 60,000 mile tires. They still have plenty of tread left.
As for me, the car has been great. I have owned and serviced my own Mercedes since 2002, when I bought my first Mercedes, a 1978 Mercedes TDT Turbo diesel wagon.
For this particular 560 SEL I have for sale, I have replaced the EHA Valve $250.00, radiator $200.00, water pump, upper and lower radiator hoses, AC suction and discharge line, changed the AC compressor oil, and I replaced the AC Condenser $350.00. I also replaced the Fan Clutch, and all belts. None of these items were defective, I replaced them to ensure good engine operation and cooling in the hot Phoenix summers.I replaced all of the AC / Heat vent actuators. The AC and heat works well.
I also replace the most important part on any 560 SEL, and that is the Timing Chain Guides.
I replaced the Insulating hood liner.
Also replaced was the Sunroof cable, and the front shocks.
That is all I have replaced, in regards to major mechanical items.
I added the 3M™ Ceramic Series films window tint. I paid about $800.00 to have it done.
This product is fantastic in reducing the Sun's glare, but it also reduces the Sun's heat entering the car.
“The 3M Ceramic Series films will look good not just the first year, but for years to come.
Solar heat comes from two primary sources, the visible light you can see and the infrared light you can feel. The Ceramic Series films reject up to 80% of the sun's heat-producing infrared light and 59% of the heat coming through your windows. These films also block 99% of harmful UV rays, helping to reducing fading and cracking on your interior.”

The leather seats do not have any rips, and to further protect them, I installed 100% Sheepskin seat covers in the front, including the arm rest. About $400.00 for the set.
I replace the defective factory radio with Alpine CD Radio with USB and AUX inputs.
What the car needs:
The Phoenix sun has blistered the paint in a couple of small spots, you can see it in the photos. The Phoenix heat warped and cracked a couple of interior trim pieces. I removed the worst of the trim pieces while I hunted for new trim; which cannot find as of yet. I replaced some of the trim with a different color piece, and in the process of moving to Key Largo FL, I lost the original trim pieces.
The sunroof cable and motor switches need a bit of work. The Sunroof operates, but needs some attention.
There is a dent, but not creased, in the lower passenger door.
The gold trim is corroding after 30 years. The trunk lip trim should be replaced, or replated.
All the power windows, power seats, and seat heaters work. The AC is cold enough here in Key Largo, but it could not cool the car when it was 110 or above in Phoenix.
The car is sold as is. I have a good clean title. The car has located in Key Largo FL. I can email you more photos. I can help in shipping the car. I had it shipped from Phoenix to Miami for $700.00 in 2013.
My wife and I no longer need three vehicles. I live in a house on stilts. The car sit parked under the house. If it is left sitting under my house, the elements, overtime, will destroy this wonderful car.
The car is rust free, except where rock chips are on the hood, and in the hoods corner - where I dropped the hood when I removed it to install the new liner. I have a can of factory touch up paint, just have not taken the time to apply it.
This car needs a good home. It is turnkey. You can drive it anywhere. I have put over 40,000 miles on it. It has Never broken down. The tires are good. I bought 5, 60,000 mile Michelin Primacy tires with Certificates from Discount tires for $812.799, back when the car had 64, 274 miles on it. I have put 40,000 miles on 60,000 mile tires. They still have plenty of tread left.
This car always passed emission in Phoenix - No emission required in Florida.
I truly enjoy these 560 SEL, they are a sleeper, until, you press the pedal down!
If you have any questions, please email me. I do have more photos.
The story of the car:
When I bought it. It had 64,000 original miles. According to the granddaughter, her grandfather saw the Mercedes in the local Mercedes showroom while driving home from spending an afternoon sanding and varnishing the wood on his boat. He proceeded to the dealer and walked in; still wearing his dirty work clothes. The salesman ignored him. After a bit of being snubbed by the salesman, her grandfather asked for the manager and proceeded to publicly reprimand him. The Grandfather then looked at the car, ask the price. It was $53,300 then wrote out a check – the Mercedes manger called the bank. Once off the phone and the check cleared, the manager offered many apologies, several times over. The bank informed the manager that gentleman in front of him had a credit line in the millions, and he was the VP of Southern California Oil -SO CAL OIL. Which today is known was Chevron.
