1982 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Additional Info:

Here we've got my 1982 Mercedes Benz 240GD G-Wagon. I built this vehicle for my self while working as a professional off-road mechanic and fabricator. I purchased from an importer who imported it in from Bulgaria in 2014. I have all customs and importation paperwork to go with the vehiclewith the title and registration signed over into my name. Ebaydoesn't like european vins, so the vin is46031017007058, as seen in the photo.
I'm looking to sell this vehicle because I want to upgrade to the 5cyl turbo, long wheel base version of the G-Wagon or a Jeep LJ Unlimited, which is better suited for the over-landing I plan to use it for. Trades will be considered. Iwill gladly work with you if you want to view the vehicle in person.
*This G-Wagon is not a perfect vehicle, and I do not claim it to be. It is a 34 year old truck that spent some of its time in themilitary. It has some bumps, bruises and scratches, but it is rust free and starts every time. I am reporting this information to the best of my knowledge after owning this vehicle for a year and a half and spending many hours working on it and customizing it.*
I am always happy to talk shop about it if you're truly interested in the truck or if you have any extra questions. Let me know if you want more pictures or more information.
Engine: 4 cylinder non turbo diesel, Mercedes OM616 motor. (same motor in the US version of the 240D Mercedes sedan from the 70's and 80's so parts are available at local parts stores.)
4 rebuilt injectors, new injection lines, replaced priming system, & vacuum shut off valve. Replaced water pump & all belts, replaced valve cover gasket, adjusted valve lashing, flushed all fluids including radiator, & put in a new air cleaner. The truck does have power steering which is unusual for this model.
Body:
Previously to me purchasing it, the floor boards and rear cargo area floor was replaced with Mercedes sheet metal. The body is now entirely rust free. There are signs of body filler on the rear tailgate, but this body work was not done while I owned it, so I can not speak to any of the specifics. The rear tailgate latch system does not work, but I do have some of the parts to fix it. I currently do have two after market latches that hold the tailgate shut and function in place of the missing parts.
Interior:The interior is mostly stock. The front and rear seats are the stock vinyl material. The rear cargo area is lined with a gray vinyl which is easy to clean and easy to take care of. The dash is fully intact, but there is some cracking in the plastic surround behind the steering wheel, as well as a square hole a previous owner had cut for some kind of switch. Most of the gauges work as they should, except for the fuel gage, which always reads 1/4 tank. I have purchased a new fuel tank sending unit that will replace the sensor and fix this problem. I plan to install this before the vehicle ships to the new owner. I will also note that the windshield is starting to get a little foggy around the edges, but is free from rock chips or any cracks.
Underside:
I imported a more modern series of axles with a different ring & pinion set to get it into the highway speeds zone. Both front and rear axles have hydraulic locking differentials, I also have new diff. lock mastercylinders for the front and rear, but theyhaven't been installed yet. Replaced the clutch slave cylinder, fully replaced the suspension system front to rear with an Old Man Emu kit, completely new heavy duty version tie rod & drag link up front. Custom built fiberglass wrapped exhaust from the engine all the way back. The truck has 5 Nankang Mud Star knobby tires that have less than 200 miles on them
Extras & Custom:
Custom front & rear bumpers. The front bumper has a 9,500 lb Tiger Shark Superwinch that I've never even unspooled. 8 LED driving lights recessed into the front bumper, with 2 long distance, flat beam led lights for fog or low visibility driving. The roof light rack has a 30" long range led flood in the center with two directional lights pointing out at the right and left hand corner. The rear has a 4" square LED light mounted in the spare tire that is switch controlled, but also comes on when the transmission is put in reverse. All of these lights are controlled by a bank of back lit & labeled rocker switches integrated in the dashboard. They are all run through a separate fuse box with an independent power source from the battery so they stay safely isolated from the rest of the vehicle wiring.
The spare tire is mounted to a custom rack that swings out from the body to allow the tailgate to drop down freely.
