1990 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Additional Info:

THE GOOD:* Selling my beloved classic 1990 Mercedes 300D / W124 with the legendary "million mile" 2.5-liter turbo diesel engine -* Approximately 232K on the engine -* Transmission rebuilt about 20K miles ago -* Over $1,500 spent on repairs over the past few weeks -* Five matching whitewall tires with good tread (spare tire never used) -* Brakes completely overhauled several thousand miles ago -* The interior is in amazing condition for an automobile of this vintage. No cracks in the dash (sun shield used religiously). The only flaws worth noting are the cracks in the wood trim clearcoat and a 3-1/4" tear in the outer MB Tex skin on the driver seat. -* Only genuine Mercedes or OEM parts used throughout / No Chinese knock-off parts -* US-Spec headlights with headlight wipers replaced with Euro-Spec Bosch headlights and wiper-delete panels -* Comes with a trailer hitch and a 1-7/8" and 2" Euro-Style receiver balls -* Also comes with a vehicle cover still in the box.* Have all the receipts for work done since purchased 15+ years ago -* One of the last years of true classic Mercedes over-engineered vehicles / Would drive cross country without hesitation -
NEEDING ATTENTION:* All (4) windows and the right front fog light have recently stopped working which doesn't appear to be a fuse. Today, on the advice of a fellow W124 owner, I replaced the Overload Protection Relay which did not solve the problem. -* Cruise control surges -* Engine will, on occasion, idle a little rough. Again, it was my understanding that the Overload Protection Relay was the culprit, although my mechanic seems to think it could possibly be a fuel injector. His rates are $169 an hour to keep throwing parts at problems not properly diagnosed. Engine smoothes right out when accelerating and has zero issues at highway speeds. -* The biggest consideration with the vehicle is cosmetics, particularly the (3) rust spots: see last (2) pics. The sunroof works intermittently and I believe that clogged drains caused the problem. No rust issues whatsoever anywhere else: see prior (3) under-chassis pics. -
* Please understand this is a 36-year-old vehicle and, although very reliable, is not in showroom condition. -* I encourage any local interested parties to bring their mechanic and come inspect and test drive the car for themselves. -* Shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I will assist in any manner possible. -* Please ask any questions prior to purchase. -* I also have a '93 300D parts car in a local storage yard that the buyer is welcome to have. The car is not roadworthy and will need to be flat bedded. -
