1970 Mercedes-Benz 280S (W108)Two-tone white/beige body with black roofShowing 63k miles, probably more like 163k miles2.8L inline-six, dual Zenith carburetors, four-speed automatic
This is a clean, straight body W108. Always garage-kept during my ownership. I purchased the car from Bring a Trailer in late 2023 with the intention of doing a restomod, but unfortunately big life changes, I am moving and have to let it go.
Runs and drives ok as-is, but needs some love, this is a light project.Cold start usually takes 3-4attemptsto turn on. If you let it warm up first she definitely drives better. It will diesel/run-on sometimes atshut off. My mechanic says these issues are because the carbs need work, or better replaced.
If I were keeping it original, here’s what I would address:- Carburetors need rebuild or swap to modern (common on these dual-Zenith setups)- Radiator has a slow leak and is rusting (simple replacement)- Body mounts could be refreshed- Carpet kit- Headliner re-tuck or replace
Body condition:Straight and clean overall. Small dent on the upper-left of grille (photo 6), a subtle crease on one front fender very hard to see (photo 16 & 17), and some rust in the lower trunk area behind the left rear wheel (photo 20 & 21). Nothing dramatic or structural. Driver side mirror is delaminating, not gone but not great.

I’ve only taken it out on a few relaxed Sunday drives, just enough to keep things moving. She's a head turner, the two tone paint definitely draws some extra attention.
If you sort out the carbs, tune-up and some basic refresh items, this could be driven and enjoyed for many years to come.or... put a used LS engine in her and have a ton of fun.
