This 1976 Mercedes-Benz 450SLC was produced for sale in California. This car was purchased new in the San Gabriel Valley in 1976 and handed down from father to son in the mid 1990's.
The car was garage kept in Orange County since 1994.
The seller is the third owner and purchased the car from the son's estate in 2024. The seller is unable to invest in the restoration and maintenance costs. She needs a daily driver.
The car is powered by a 4.5-liter M117 V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Blue Metallic over blue leather. Equipment includes 14″ alloy wheels, a sunroof, power windows, and an Alpine CD player stereo with Bluetooth.
The SLC features a wheelbase approximately 14″ longer than the convertible SL, affording room for rear seats. This car is Blue Metallic and features a sunroof, dual side mirrors, a power antenna, chrome bumpers, and polished aluminum trim.
The interior features seating surfaces upholstered in blue leather, along with a color-coordinated dashboard, center console, and doors. Amenities include front seat headrests, and power windows.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level. The odometer shows 254k miles.
Decoding the data tag yields the following information:
The car last passed a California emissions test in spring of 2024.This 450SLC is now offered with extensive service records dating back to 1994, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
This car does run butdoes need some restoring.
A very reputable auto shop that specializes in vintage Mercedes has made the recommendations below:
Replace/rebuild the power steering pump.
Install the correct dipstick.
Replace the fuel hoses.
Replace the fan belts.
Replace the subframe mounts
Service the steering links.
Replace all 4 tires.
Exhaust pipes show some rust, requires replacement.
Under the rear driver’s size seat there is some rust that ate thru the seat well. Recommend cutting out the rust and dropping in a patch in the well.
The air conditioning system does not work, needs servicing.
There are some cracks in the dashboard, and the seat upholstery shows signs of wear.
There is scratch on the hood, and signs of bubbling on the trunk lid.
On Oct-21-25 at 11:47:12 PDT, seller added the following information:
Just to be very clear, under the driver’s side rear seat, there is some significant rust and deterioration of the seat well, so much that you can see thru the body. A competent body shop could cut out the deterioration and install a patch. While this car does run, it is not a daily, or a weekend driver. It will require some restoration and repair to get it ready for cruising. This car is being sold as is with no warranty express or implied.
