Vehicle Details
1989 420 SEL. I own 3 now and have owned 9 W126 chassis Mercedes. This car was my dads weekend cruiser. When he purchased the car approximately 10 years ago he proactively replaced timing chain, guides and tensioner, serviced the transmission and replaced all brake pad and rotors to ensure continued reliable and safe pleasure driving. Old school maintenance schedule always followed and detailed maintenance included sunroof lubrication procedure to ensure smooth operation- tilt operation works perfectly. Throttle linkages correctly disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. Outside temp display and sensor were both renewed. Door hinges properly lubricated via the spring loaded grease point. R134 Freon conversion was completely vacuumed out and the system properly refilled with Envirocool R12 replacement. The AC easily produces 40 degree vent temps regardless of outside temp. An intermittent ABS light is the only issue I haven’t been able to resolve. It only sets with intermediate road irregularities. Sensors are fine and the light always resets upon restart. There must be a chafed wire somewhere.
