1980 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Additional Info:

Selling my low mileage w116 chassis 300SD. The engine is fine example of a healthy OM617 turbo. It starts easy even in sub freezing temps with one glow cycle. The transmission can be a little slow to go into gear after sitting for a while but it shifts perfect and doesn't slip. I installed a 2.88 rear differential for better economy on the freeway, along with fresh axle boots. The paint leaves something to be desired as the clear coat has come off much of the car, however the only place where the clear is actively peeling is on the trunk lid. Portions of the car may have been repainted at some point. The seats are acceptable. The covers are in good shape, but the stuffing is deteriorating. This is the worst in the back seat back.It comes with all the carpets, trunk carpet and rubber mat, original and barely used spare tire and wheel, tool kit, jack, and a spare rear bumper in better condition. What it needs:The car has a water leak from the rear window which drains into the trunk and under the back seat to the floor. This leak has led to significant deterioration of the padding in the seat back of the back seat. I have done some work to remedy this but whenever the previous owner replaced the rear window seal it was not done correctly. The real fix will be to replace the window seal again and install it properly. I can provide some information on how this job is to be done. The car needs front upper control arms. The rubber bushings are shot leading to some clunking in the front and bad alignment. This is not a hard job for a diy mechanic, and the parts are not expensive. All in all, and with a little work, you'll have an extremely high quality automobile that will last for decades with the proper care. It could be someones daily driver and will easily exceed 400,000 miles with proper maintenance. The car is located in southern Oregon.Feel free to message me with any questions.
