Please call Matt directly at 513-708-1468 with any questions about this car.Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this very nice 1982 Mercedes Benz 380SL in fantastic condition. It looks spectacular, runs great, and is an excellent driver. The market on the R107 SL is very hot right now and this example is priced to sell. Low mileage and original examples of the R107 Mercedes SL are exceptionally difficult to find and draw a huge premium in the current market. This car has with only 98,587 original miles, which is low for a Mercedes of this era as they are so well built, they can run for hundreds of thousands of miles if properly maintained. The low original mileage on this 380SL is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also by the clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing the mileage as "Actual" as well as the vehicle history report.
This 380SL comes with both the soft-top and auxiliary hardtop. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Mercedes that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. This Mercedes is finished in the absolutely beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Red over Light Tan interior with a Dark Brown soft-top. Please peruse all of the photos, video, option codes, and other information in this ad to get a true sense of clean and nice this 380SL really is.
There is also a copy of the AutoCheck report in this ad. The report is totally clean, shows no accident history, and verifies the low mileage.
As a side note, this Mercedes is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the 380SL, just give us a call.
ExteriorThe Red exterior is in excellent driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the paint has a brilliant gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely; it has that solid Mercedes touch and feels like a vault door closing. The soft top is in terrific condition with no rips, holes, or frayed edges. The soft top windows are clear with no yellowing or fogginess. The soft top mechanism contacts the soft top side windows on all of the R107 models when the top is stored down so wear on those windows is very common, but both are in great condition on this 380SL. The original alloy wheels are in great shape with no curb rash. The BF Goodrich tires have plenty of tread left and are correctly sized 205/70R14. The chrome and other bright-work look nice overall. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. As one would expect from a paintjob with many years on it there are some very small blemishes around that are too tiny so show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five feet away. We have not noticed any rust issues. As one can see in the many photos of the underside, this 380SL is very clean underneath. We have also included specific photos of the rockers, lower front and rear quarter panels, and other areas on the car most prone to rust to show how nice it looks.
InteriorThe Tan interior of the 380SL looks fantastic. The gauges faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are crystal clear. The carpet is also in great shape with no rips, holes, or notable stains. The original door panels look wonderful and both door pulls are solid and intact. The seats look just as nice in person as they do in the photos with a split seem in the typical area on the bolster where the driver gets in and out and some other small spots of wear. The dash is in good condition with no sun fading or sun damage. This car has never been smoked in; there is no aroma of cigarettes whatsoever and no burn marks.
The trunk is very clean and nicely detailed with the original spare tire, and rim, jack.
Convertible interiors are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this original interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this Mercedes has received throughout its life and another great verification of the low original mileage.
MechanicalThis 380SL appears to be in very nice mechanical condition and it is ready to be enjoyed. The engine starts right away every time and idles smooth. It is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. In the video one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to a stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it runs great, there are no strange noises or vibrations, and the car performs quite nice overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos.
Please note in the video the dash warning lights are working properly; they light up when the key is first turned on and then go off when the engine is started as they should. There are no "check engine" lights that stay on. The horn works as do the fog lights, headlights, brights, turn signals, interior lights, power windows, rear window defroster, indicators, wipers, and blower. Even very detailed items like the glove box light and key buzzer still work. All of the gauges work; even the clock keeps time. The fuel gauge can be bouncy sometimes. The air conditioning does not blow cold. This Mercedes is smooth and quick with the 3.8 liter V8 engine. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.
Overall ConditionOverall, this 1982 380SL is in excellent condition and is a true bargain at our asking price. The market on the R107 body style SL Mercedes is very strong right now, particularly for low mileage examples in excellent condition like this car. This Mercedes is a great value and will only appreciate over time. Someone could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
